These are easier to take than other even larger collagen pills, but are still too big to swallow without water. I have only taken them for a month, I do feel like my skin and hair is looking a little better and healthier, but I’m not 100% sure yet if it is from these. Will continue to take and am optimistic they are actually working

The ingredients are good. I prefer capsules to collagen powder, so these are perfect for me. I take collagen daily for my skin, hair and nails and this works great.

It was a little concerning when I saw the size of these pills and then read I had to take 3 per serving. Large pills are very difficult for me to swallow. The capsules were initially difficult to swallow, but then I realize if I let them sit in my mouth a little longer they became much softer and easier to swallow. My biggest concern was if I left them in my mouth too long, the capsule might dissolve and release the contents in my mouth. Fortunately, I’ve taken the capsules for 9 day, and so far and been lucky that none of the capsules have opened.
The capsules themselves are basically flavorless, so no complaints there. The texture becomes slimy after they’ve been in my mouth for about a minute, which makes them easier to swallow. Honestly, I don’t like slimy textured foods, but these haven’t bothered me at all.
I’m a little on the older side and I appreciate that the bottle is easy to open and the pills are easy to remove. There’s no time wasted dealing with difficult to open containers or measuring powders or liquids. This seems like a bonus to me.

Here are some things I look for when purchasing a collagen supplement (read to see how Healthful Seasons measures up):
1. Bioavailability. Can this supplement be absorbed well and used by the body? In the case of collagen, large molecules need to be broken down, or hydrolyzed, in order for the body to benefit. This Healthful Seasons product is hydrolyzed for easy absorption.
2. Broad Spectrum. Humans primarily use 5 types of collagen. Because I work with joints in my profession (healthcare), I’m often recommending collagen from a chicken source because it’s heavy on type 2 and good for joints- but a supplement which brings together the 5 types of collagen most utilized by the human body is providing broad support for a variety of different tissue types… essentially, your bases are covered. It’s difficult to find a product that combines all 5, but Healthful Seasons does it.
3. Natural. It’s important to choose products sourced from animals that are free from antibiotics, hormones, preservatives, etc. because who wants toxins along with their supplements? This collagen is produced in a USDA certified organic facility in Ohio.
4. Who is making this supplement? This is really important and it pays to do your homework. Vitamins and supplements are classified as food by the FDA, not as drugs. This distinction allows the general public to access these products easily and affordably, but because the FDA does not approve supplements before they are marketed for sale it’s hard to know if the label reflects what is inside the bottle. I am a healthcare provider and it is often difficult for me to navigate as well – so this is where it pays to research a company before making a purchase.
In the case of Healthful Seasons, what I found is that the company has a vision and mission statement that I can get on board with. They’re organic, don’t test on animals and products are made in the USA. They’re working toward sustainable packaging and have a special interest in women’s health. All good stuff but how can I know for sure? In reading through the blog on their website, the blog cites real research to support the information and recommendations they’re publishing online, and that helps put my mind at ease that they’re walking the walk, not just talk. They’re not slinging a slick sales pitch either, which I appreciate. My overall impression is good.
The only negative here is that the bottle I received is close to expiration. The item was shipped directly from Amazon and has not likely been on stock rotation recently. I do suggest that you try this supplement – but check the expiration, especially if you’re purchasing several bottles. Freshness is important and Amazon’s good return policy will make sure it’s fresh in the event that you need an exchange.

Let’s be realistic. Today’s market is saturated with every type of pill, capsule, cream, mask, lotion, and promise that claims to erase wrinkles, make you feel healthier and look younger. I gave these collagen capsules a 30-day trial run to see if they contained some magical ingredient. Well, what is magic? An optical illusion? Even the bottle itself says, “As a dietary supplement, take at least one serving (3 capsules) once daily with a glass of water. To enhance results, take with vitamin C.” My question is, “what results are we attempting to enhance?” I did take 3 capsules every morning, followed by an 8 ounce bottle of water and 1,000 mg of chewable Vitamin C. I’ve noticed my cheeks are rosier; does that count? Nowhere on the bottle is there any description of what these collagen capsules are for or what they’re supposed to do other than “dietary supplement”. Your guess is as good as mine. and no, I don’t look like a celebrity.

I normally put collagen powder in my coffee each morning by habit, but this is a nice alternative way to get it..
I normally do take a much higher dosage than this, but on the mornings when I don’t get a chance to make my collagen coffee at home, this is a great to-go alternative that I always keep in my pill bag for on the go.
