— they are coated: they dissolve in your stomach, not your trachea. You don’t experience the horrible feeling of tasting iron all day, as you get with uncoated pills.
I just had to throw away 2 brand new bottles of iron sulfate because of the horrible taste. 🤢
— it’s gluconate, not sulfate.
NIH studies indicate sulfate is higher iron dose, but gluconate is better absorbed. I’ve had better experience with these.
It is recommended you take a vitamin E just before taking this, for maximum absorption. Vitamin E is inexpensive.

If you’re even looking at this product you presumably have anemia or have been told you’re at risk for anemia. The dose is very high for anyone who does not have anemia. But if you have low ferritin levels, you have probably been told you will need to supplement with a lot of iron for a long time.
These are easy to swallow and have minimal digestive effects, taken with or without food. If you have tried taking the more common and cheaper ferrous sulfate supplements you probably know how miserable those are once they dissolve. For me at least these have no significant stomach upset or side effects. I have also had good luck with ferrous glycinate, which is slightly different chemically but another option that’s easier on the stomach. This specific product is cheaper though and has twice as much iron per pill, so it’s an obvious first choice.

The size is like a green m&m, easy to swallow. They stink so gotta keep them in the bottle (as opposed to my pill box.) They’re not in my mouth long enough to taste. (I’m addressing the rankings questions.) I did end up finding something cheaper at Walgreens.com ($3.99/bottle) so will get those next time. I’ll stick with gluconate for my stomach, sulfate is harsh. All in all, aside from a little pricier (not bad tho) these are fine. Fast delivery is important to me. 2 days is great.

Easy to swallow, coating tastes sweet. I don’t take pills easily but these are fine to take even twice per day. Doctor recommended this dose for me. I have found if I drink milk products within 2-4 hours of taking it can upset my stomach.
