We have been using eye vitamins for years with great results. The Focus Factor eye vitamins are comparable (see the photograph above) but lack zinc and copper. Focus Factor has the same amount of Vitamin C, 60 mg less of vitamin E (which might be a good thing – since the body stores unneeded amounts which can lead to toxicity). It also has twice the Lutein (10mg) and twice the Zeaxanthin (2mg).
Without the copper and zinc – I can’t recommend these as a replacement for doctor recommended eye-vitamins. But these might work if you have healthy eyes and are looking to mitigate damage from lots of screen time.

Focus Factor Blue Light Formula (60 Count) – Eye Vitamins with Blue Light Filtration Support provides many of the vitamins your eyes require for optimum health. Each capsule contains both Lutein and Zeaxanthin, as well as other vitamins such as C and E. The bottle includes a thirty day supply taking two capsules per day. The capsules are easy to swallow and there are zero after effects.

This product probably works great. But every time I open the container or my pill box, I had an overwhelming smell of fish. Must be the fish oil that’s in the vitamin. I just can’t take the smell. Yuck.

My husband is a computer engineer and he works in front of computer all the time. When he’s not working, he would be on his phone all day long. He would get dry eyes and headaches due to eyestrain constantly. These blue light filter Eye vitamins are a game changer. His eyes feel less dry and he does not get headaches as often as before. The bottle comes with 60 capsules and that’s one month worth of supply. We Will definitely get more when this is done.

  5. Customer Review

My diet consists of a lot of nutrients to support my health. However, I have noticed eye fatigue more and more when I’m doing screen time as well as out boating. I’m hoping this helps. So far so good but it’s only been a few days. Even though I’m not expecting any miracles, this is a reputable company and my hopes are high. I wear sunglasses a lot when I’m out in the sun as well when I’m reading on my tablet. That seems to help too.

I searched up these ingredients and they could help. Either case, I’ll test them out for the 15 days and see if there’s any noticeable improvement. I’ve also reduced my screen time. Sorry I couldn’t give you more information, but I’ve only just begun to take these and don’t want to create any false expectations. They do not mess with my stomach and I make sure I take them with a meal as that always seems to help me.

My work involves sitting at a screen most of the day, so I am aware of the potential risks of blue light exposure. While it is hard to say whether eye strain is attributed to blue light or maybe just too much strain, I have over the past few years added eye supplements to my daily routine. This product has two of the most common ingredients for eye health, lutein and zeaxanthin, and this supplement contains the recommended daily requirement for each (10 mg. for lutein and 2 mg. for zeaxanthin). The product seems clean and this supplement is made in the USA.

Lutein and zeaxanthin are pigments found in the central retina (the macula). It has been suggested that a dietary supplement might help prevent development or progression of age-related macular degeneration. Even though they are found in our diet, I do take a lutein/zeaxanthin supplement because my eyesight is important to me, it’s not overly expensive, and not harmful. So what about this product? This is from a nationally known brand. Two of the white-colored capsules provide 10 mg of lutein, 2 mg of zeaxanthin, 250mg of Vitamin C, and 60mg of Vitamin E. The manufacturer of Focus Factor Blue Light makes a number of claims. (1) This is formulated with Lutemax 2000, a trademarked source of lutein and zeaxanthin derived from marigold flowers. However, if you do some Internet searching, you will learn that most supplements get their lutein and zeaxanthin from marigold flowers. (2) They claim that this “is designed to nourish your eyes with a powerful blend of essential antioxidant vitamins and other specialized nutrients to help maintain your vision, and support the eyes’ ability to filter blue light.” I don’t understand the basis for this statement. In a large study, the Bausch & Lomb supplement Ocuvite was only proven beneficial for people with moderate to severe macular degeneration, and was not of proven benefit for those with normal eyes. Further, if you want to prevent blue light from reaching your retina, the simplest way to do that is to wear glasses or sunglasses that block blue light. Bottom line: Focus Factor Blue Light is very unlikely to harm you, and there’s nothing wrong with it, but I‘m not convinced about the manufacturer’s claims. This seems costly for a 1 month supply. You may be able to get the same ingredients by purchasing a less expensive lutein/zeaxanthin supplement along with separate (and probably very inexpensive) Vitamin C and Vitamin E supplements or a multivitamin.

I’m in front of a computer all-day, plus all the TV, phones, etc. and have noticed increasing eye-strain and dryness. I wear blue-light glasses, but always looking for ways to help my eyes. I’ve taken these for a few weeks and generally feel positive about them.

There’s 2 uncommon supplements that helps with eye degeneration – Lutein and Zeaxanthin, which are both included. The recommended dosages are 10mg and 2mg. The other ones are Vitamin C, E, Zinc, and Copper, which are more more common. I’ve worn glasses/contacts most my life so I do worry about long-term eye health and wanted to incorporate supplements that will help.

They are easy to take (I’ve taken without meals) and have experienced no odd side-effects. I feel like my eyes are less tired and strained, but hard to know what’s placebo vs. actual. There’s really no downsides to taking these given the ingredients especially given the screen time most of us are around. They also seem to help with eye fatigue for me.
