I think the price was the lowest amongst the offerings on Amazon, a good thing since the general price seemed to be a lot higher than a year ago when I bought Bausch & Lomb. The supplement is in CAPSULE form, however, rather than soft gels, and is quite large. If swallowing large pills bothers you, this will seem an unnecessary option.

My review may not be useful to other people. These pills inflamed my digestive tract, but my system is highly reactive and the zinc in the pills caused intense pain throughout my digestive tract. Zinc is a common ingredient in AREDS vitamins, so I’ll just go back to taking the other ingredients separately. Perhaps there are other people out there with chemical and food sensitivities who can benefit from my experience. I don’t feel that this is the fault of the manufacturer.

As many family members have macular degeneration, I began researching ways to help combat this terrible disease. I found many articles stating what supplements are needed to help either delay or, hopefully, totally eliminate the possibility of macular degeneration. I found, in comparing the top products available on the market, that AmericonPlus products had the best write-up, showed to have the safest manufacturing processes and had all the required supplements in the correct amounts. I am completing my 2nd bottle, have the AREDS 2 on an auto-ship program, and will be returning in July for my annual eye exam. I am expecting to hear great news that my eyes are well. I will remain on this product as I have experienced no ill side-effects and believe I can see better. Many thanks to AmericonPlus for this wonderful product.

My optometrist recommended that I take AREDS 2 formula eye vitamins, but I discovered that the particular brand she suggested costs an arm and a leg. This brand has exactly the same ingredients, except for a lower amount of zinc, which some nutritionists consider prudent, and costs literally half as much. I have bought them several times and found the quality to be consistently good. The capsules are easy to swallow and have no undesirable smell, aftertaste. or aftereffects on my digestion. My doctor says my eyes have improved a bit — which is the reason I’m taking these, after all! When you need to take a vitamin formula every day for years on end, any difference in cost adds up rapidly. I checked out their company’s web site and they seem to be a trustworthy firm of health professionals. I’m glad to have found this brand!

I have been taking this product for about the past 2 years. When I visit my retinologist my eyes are stable with no further damage. I was diagnosed with “wet” md in my right eye and have been very pleased with the product. When I was first diagnosed I was using another brand that was $50 per bottle. But this one has the same ingredients as the ones advertised.
I shared the link with my niece and recommended to other family members who have the potential for developing macular degeneration since it is prevalent in my family. So I would give AREDS2 from AmericonPlus a 5 star rating.

I was annoyed to discover that these vitamins don’t contain vitamin A, a very big component of eye health and present in all other AREDS formulations (the expensive ones, at least). Too much trouble to return so I will just not order them again.

Since many women on my Mother’s side of the family had macular degeneration, plus with the recommendation of my eye doctor I went about finding an Areds2 product that would not upset my stomach. Soy Oil and Soy Lethycin cause my usual stomach upsets, along with certain ‘other’ ingredients (fillers/binders). This product was the only one I found to not contain the problematic ingredients. Plus, it comes in a capsule containing dry power, not liquid or oil. I’m also pleased with the type and quantity of Zinc and Copper they use. I’ve taken them for about a week now with no stomach upset. AND, the price is right! Much better than the leading brand.
