I admit to mocking people who’ve used the above words, but in this case it is so incredibly true. My Neurologist put me on Alpha Lipoic Acid for Disautonomia; my autonomic nervous system was no longer working right and I was having horrific issues of pulse and blood pressure changes, feeling faint, and breaking into a horrific sweat doing very little.
I expected those things to change when I started taking it and they did. But things that really knocked me for a loop was how so many other things changed. I had been on Nuvigil, an amphetamine for Narcolepsy and possibly the silliest diagnosis ever, but excessive daytime sleepiness. I have struggled with my sleep and being awake during daylight hours since I was a child, I would have made a great vampire. They have found I have a few sleep disorders (main ones are PLMD and sleep apnea); even after those were treated I still was sleepy all of the time and the Nuvigil only kept me somewhat functional. Now,I am way more alert during the day, go to sleep without difficulty, and am sleeping better.
I’ve had one other major change that I’ve noticed, my eyes had been incredibly sun sensitive making me wear sunglasses anytime it was light outside for the last 23 years or so. I don’t need to anymore, only on the most intensly glary and bright days can I even wear them at all. I have yet to have an explaination, but am thrilled none the less.

Hidden Valley made my stomach turn. Swanson, looks like no thrills, but seems to work for me.

I have tingling leg nerves due to neuropathy. I have constant low-level pain due to the trigeminal nerve on the left side of my face. In addition to prescribed medicine, my neurologist prescribed 600 mg Alpha Lipoic Acid. After a week, the low-level pain is greatly reduced. There were too many suppliers to evaluate so I chose Swanson because I have had good experience with their products.

Finally something that helps! I have had chronic fatigue for a number of years. I was put on a CPAP almost a year ago and still had horrible fatigue. I cannot work full time, it is that bad. I read several promising reviews of this product and thought I would give it a try. The capsule is big and you need to drink a lot of water to get it down. After three weeks, I noticed that I was skipping naps a couple of afternoons a week. I still get tired, but I feel this supplement has helped tremendously. I have had no side affects, other than once I did not drink enough water and the capsule melted in my throat and burned. That was my fault. I only take it once a day and wonder if twice a day would improve my results twice as much! I have been on Ritalin, Provigil, and phentermine. This supplement helped way more than any of these. Thank goodness it doesn’t cost an arm and a leg. Swanson’s is a well known brand of quality vitamins and supplements.
