Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA) is a common ingredient in OTC nerve pain/neuropathy products, and it’s the ACTIVE ingredient that works on the neuropathies. This drug was recommended by my Podiatrist for my Diebetes neuropathies (DPNP), and it frickin works. CAUTION — you MUST take with something sizable in your gut — take immediately before a meal, and the closer to bedtime the better effect during sleep. IF you DON’T take it with food, as the capsules dissolve and the granules start dissolving, it will be intensely HOT heartburn — if you burp, it will actually BURN your throat and nose. CAUTION !!!

For me, this has worked great for my slow digestion and peripheral neuropathy, it was recommended by my neurologist. This one does not have the ingredient that eats a hole in your stomach like some do. This is a great product, I buy it all the time.

The reasons I take Alpha Lipoic Acid:
1. Helps reduce the amount of insulin I require.
2. Helps eliminate the “stacking” of red blood cells visible through live blood examination.
3. Helps reduce some of the effects of a heavy wheat based diet. Now we know that wheat has been manipulated since 1985 to include a protein that makes it more addicting. Check out the “Wheat Belly” book.
The reasons for my dosage, 300mg before breakfast and 300mg before bed.
I was taking 100mg BID and found it effective, albeit subtle. I was concerned with possible toxic effects if too much is taken. On Dr Oz they recommended taking 300mg daily, and I found no information regarding toxic effects. I have been taking 300mg BID for quite some time now, about 8 months, and have been feeling better.

None… For some supplements I have definitely noticed effectiveness issues among the brands. For Alpha Lipoic Acid, for me, there have been none. I shopped for price per 300mg pill, and prefer capsules. I include shipping as part of my calculations. Amazon’s pricing seems to fluctuate both up and down and sometimes their higher pricing with free shipping is better than another’s lower price plus shipping, sometimes not. For Alpha Lipoic Acid, I just do the math.

A great price for this supplement. I find alpha lipoic easy to swallow but a little difficult to wash down. Usually follow with a bite of something and lots of water. Works great!

I’ve been using this product for YEARS. Every once in a while i stop because I think that this does nothing. Then within days, my feet ache horribly and my blood sugar starts to creep up.I start taking again and pain goes away. I’d like more transparency from the company in labeling BUT time and time again, it has worked for me – signed a very skeptical customer
