I normally buy Buckley cough syrup. Not available anymore. So I read all the reviews. I ordered a bottle. Received yesterday. I like to smell before putting something in my mouth, yes it smelt like fish . It does have cod liver oil in it. The taste was nasty, but I’m very pleased with the results so far, my cough is almost gone from a cold a week ago.I would recommend this to anyone

I hav been using this product since I was a child. I’m now over 50yrs old. Although, the taste is awful, it is worth taking a spoonful in order to loosen up mucus that is lodge in those internal airway paths during a cold, The product is hard to find in drug stores. I’m appreciative that Amazon carries Father John’s!

My father gave this to me and my 3 siblings during the winter growing up in the 50s and 60s. He even used this to help our pet duck recover from a dog’s attack. (Disclaimer: I don’t know how safe it is for animals, but our duck did recover fully!). This past winter I had a serious cold that set into bronchitis. For nearly 3 months I had the worst cough and went through a box of tissues every 2 days or so. Antibiotics and steroids, and inhaler, decongestants, allergy meds… did not end the cough. Finally my son who remember the family duck story said, “Ma, I think you need to get some Father John’s”. I had actually been thinking about that but could find none in the stores. I checked online and sure enough, here it was. ONE dose and I felt the tightness in my chest relax and I could breath easier. By the third dose that cough that kept me awake was gone! I had been seen by my NP and a doctor, nothing they did, Even a humidifier, everything I could think of….then Ta Da, Father John’s. We are dealing with colds again and this is our first line of defense now. HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT> have a “chaser” ready the taste is all its own but it works!

This product has been a staple in my family for colds since I can remember but not sold in any stores near me. Although the smell and taste are horrible (always has been) it works wonders. My son recently had a cold that was not budging with any other medicine so I decided to give him a tablespoon on this. Within a couple of days he was back to the basics. I’m so glad I found it on Amazon.
