I’ve tried a few of Eight Saint’s products and liked them a lot. They are solid. So when there was a good deal, I decided to give a try to this retinol serum.
I liked the consistency – not too watery but also not too thick or sticky. Absorbs well and leaves your skin very smooth. Very gentle on your skin, neutral scent. Very nice, natural ingredients.
That said, I didn’t see any major improvement in my skin. I used it for a week. But I’m 52 years old so my skin needs a good “punch”. This makes me think that this product is not very strong and best for beginners or those with sensitive skin.
And that’s the thing: it’s not clear what’s the concentration of retinol in this product. The package says nothing about it. Retinoids usually come in different strengths and that’s how you know where to start and how to proceed.
Also, the package says to use this serum “during day only” (retinoids usually are recommended as a night time treatment) and even suggests using it in combination with Eight Saint’s retinol cream, which again suggests that both of these products are most likely low strength and more suitable to younger and/or beginner users.

Really liking this serum so far. I’ve had no irritation on my sensitive skin and overall my skin is feeling smooth and glowy. The serum is a light consistency with a very mild scent, no harsh fragrances. I use it every night and my skin is tolerating it well.

I am 59 years old and have age related loss of elasticity in my skin along with wrinkles, sun spots and overall courser skin texture than I had when I was younger. I started out cautiously and have been using the Eight Saints Retinol serum and Retinol moisturizer 2 times a week and I have had ZERO itchiness, redness, flaking or peeling at all. In addition, I am already seeing firmer and smoother skin and plan to bump up my skin care routine to include the Eight Saints Retinol serum and Retinol moisturizer to using them every other day, and eventually using them daily.

I’m a no-fuss skin routine kind of gal, and this serum fits that bill. Low to no scent for me, leaves my skin feeling hydrated and smooth. I like how well it absorbs, and my skin glows. I like the applicator/dropper too. I’ve used one other Eight Saints product and now want to try more. Two down and more to go, because they are that good! The packaging is great too. Nice clean design. Like I said: “Simple!” That’s all I need.

I was excited to try Eight Saints Smooth Sailing Retinol Serum after my success with other Eight Saints products that I’ve purchased. I can confidently say it’s the best retinol serum I’ve used.
This serum has done wonders for my skin, noticeably reducing fine lines, wrinkles, and age spots. My skin tone has evened out, and my pores look smaller. Thanks to the hyaluronic acid, my skin stays hydrated and plump, even though I use the product 3-4 times a week before bed (after I have washed my face and let it thoroughly dry). The serum spreads evenly and glides on–it’s not sticky. Unlike other serums that I have used in the past, Smooth Sailing Retinol Serum has not irritated my skin at all.
