I have been working in the garden lately & its really hot. The old standby just wasn’t cutting it. Grandma was stinky. I had always wanted to try Lume, but it is so expensive. I finally gave in & bought some. So far, it is working well & I smell like Tangerine, rather than a 1900s dock worker. I appreciate it. My clothes appreciate it and I am sure my grandchildren appreciate it.

I’m a little divided over this product. I would give the soap 5 stars and the deodorant 3.5 stars. Here’s the reason why:
The soap is mildly scented and nicely milled. I had zero expectations going in, because all I ever hear about is the deodorant and the lotion. But after showering with the soap, I’m most impressed. The tangerine is mild and pleasant. The soap lathers as you would expect, but what really caught my attention was how my skin felt after getting out of the shower. I felt clean and my skin was soft. I have been an unapologetic Ivory soap user for my entire life (and I know all of the mixed feelings people have about Ivory). I never thought I could be swayed by another soap. Over the many, many years, I have tried most of the marketed soaps at one point or another (whether travelling, or family memebers who want different brands), but this soap stands out. I’m going to save the second bar to try when I travel this summer. Our destination has a water softener, and I always feel slimy after showering there. If the Lume can cut that feeling even fractionally, I’ll be completely won over.
The deodorant is not quite as impressive. First let me say that the tangerine is a nice citrusy scent. I like tangerines. I grow tangerines. But after a full day of using the deodorant, I needed to wash it off before going to bed. It lasts. Now that’s good…and not so great. It’s just so strong that I didn’t want my nose buried in tangerine throughout the night. Too much of a good thing? When I got up this morning, the shirt I wore yesterday still had a VERY strong tangerine scent. Don’t think there’s anyway I could go 72 hours living with such a strong scent. But that’s not why I would give it 3.5 stars. The other thing about this product is that it’s a deodorant (only). I have used an antiperspirant for decades (and, again I understand the debate about these products). I’m not really comfortable sweating (tangerines) all day long. But that also is not why I would give it 3.5 stars. Both of the issues mentioned are my issues and not the issue of the product. The reason I would give the deodorant 3.5 is the dispenser in which the deodorant is housed. For all of the money spent by Lume on advertising (can you go a day without seeing a commercial?), I wish they had spent a couple of pennies more (and, yes I understand business enough to know that a few cents can greatly reduce the profit margins) to use a higher grade plastic to house the product. The top edges are somewhat sharp, and the container itself flexes if pressure is applied to the sides. I tested my big name product and that had extremely smooth edges and a solid, sturdy container. It seems that Lume cut corners in packaging. Kind of sad given that that is what ends up in the consumer’s hands.

Works absolutely well. I am able to walk three times a day at work. Get home and zero odor. A couple of nights I couldn’t get up to shower before bed, woke up and still wasn’t smelly. Not one bit of odor.

I love the fragrance, but don’t care for the gel as much as I would the cream. The gel is sticky. The roll on is nice and smooth. I like the scent..

This bundle contains 2 full sized stick deodorants and 2 large bars of soap. Since I’ve used and liked the Lume creme deodorant that comes in tubes a lot, I was super excited to try the deodorant in stick form since I don’t like applying the creme with my fingers or how you need to let it dry a bit before getting dressed.
THE GOOD: The deodorant stick solid works well and doesn’t leave residue on my dark clothing like some deodorants do. The soap comes in generously sized bars which lathers well and rinses easily.
HOWEVER- the scent of both products seems excessively strong to me. I’m not a big fan of perfumes or highly scented products but I’ve used the Lume’s ‘Clean Tangerine’ scent in the creme and was fine with it which is why I selected this bundle. These products though have a very strong burst of citrus/tangerine that also has a cherry smell I associate with air fresheners in public restrooms. The first time I tried the stick deodorant I swabbed on about 3 passes and it stayed with me the whole day and every time I raised my arms or adjusted my clothing I got a fresh shot of the heavy scent. It was so overwhelming that I tried to wipe it off in the bathroom at work and still smelled it all day. A few days later I gave it another chance, although applying it much more sparingly and, while it was somewhat better, it was still more noticeable scent than I want from a hygiene product- and especially that particular scent. The soap also is pretty scent heavy. Although I found the scent dissipates as you dry off, it still sticks with me more than I want- perhaps it’s just the association from bad day with the deodorant?
STILL, I was impressed enough with these products otherwise that I am happy to see they are available in ‘Unscented’ and plan to order them in that version.
