I tried using this product on my tiny dogs hot spot. It cools and soothes it and keeps her from itching and scratching. It works good as well on sunburn and bug bites. No smell, dries quickly. This is a great Aloe Vera product. Arrived quickly. Highly recommend.

This is the only aloe I found that didn’t have a single harmful ingredient and has a 100/100 Yuka rating. It was packaged well and it has a pleasant, sweet smell. The 12 oz bottle is big and I’m not sure I will be able to use this all before the expiration date. I used this for the first time one night, after a beach day with too much sun. I keep it in the refrigerator for sunburn relief. It was very sticky, (duh, I mean it’s aloe!) but did absorb rather quickly. It made my skin feel very very tight but that could be from the burn. The sunburn was 100% gone by the morning. I am hooked. I hope this company stays around for a long time!

Its so refreshing! And I like how it has very minimal ingredients. It helps hold moisture in my skin without making it oily

A good quality product, not greasy, not sticky, no obnoxious artificial smell, has never irritated my very sensitive skin, very soothing to the skin after being in the sun.

I’ve bought this product for many years and it works well. It’s actually aloe gel, unlike other brands. It has a pleasant ‘green’ scent to it. Like it smells like it’s made from a plant. It’s not flowery or fragranced. The bottle is yellow but the product is clear. It dilutes well with water and works great in your hair/on your scalp if you have a dry scalp. I use it to calm rashes and on dry skin. Always happy with this product. Happier now it comes in a larger bottle which is amazing.

Overall, I think that this is an excellent product with lots of uses — see a couple of caveats below.
I’ve purchased and used 8 – 10 bottles over the past 2 years or so. Mostly, I apply it all over my face and neck after shaving in the morning and am pleased with the slightly tightening and softening effect from the aloe on my 45+ year old skin. I also use it, occasionally, as a hair gel — it provides SOME body/hold for my short hair, but it is not a substitute for the holding power of normal hair gel. Also, I’ve found this effective in minimizing itches from minor irritations like mosquito bites. Of course, it’s fantastic for sunburn.
The caveats: (1) when applying it to the body (arms, legs, hands, etc.), it can have a little bit of a sticky feel; not a big deal for me, but one of my daughters dislikes it for this reason, and (2) others have commented about “burning” their skin. One of the bottles I’ve used had a slightly irritating (kind of burning feel) effect on my skin that none of the bottles before or since has had. I can only speculate that, since the product had not reached its expiration date, perhaps Lily of the Desert’s quality control slipped up on this one and, maybe, the pH of that particular product was a little off — I can’t say for sure. But, this experience does make me wonder if consumers whose natural pH is slightly different than mine might regularly have problems(?). The only way to know for sure is to try it yourself, but most reviewers seem to have had very good experiences with the aloe, as I have. Bottom line: if you know that you have sensitive skin, then this might not be the product for you. Otherwise, I highly recommend it for many different uses.

I saw a Reddit post a while ago of someone who used this on their dry scalp (not medical dandruff but just really dry and flaky scalp) so I thought I’d try it since it was pretty cheap – plus it never hurts to have aloe in the house for after sun – and it completely cured my flakes! I use it on my scalp in the shower, just about a teaspoon amount, while my conditioner is sitting on the ends, then I rinse out. My scalp no longer itches and it seems to be moisturized. I was worried it would make my hair oily or greasy, or worse, crunchy! but I don’t even notice it. I do, however, notice when I don’t use it so I won’t be stopping anytime soon!
