I’m a fan of jelly masks because they don’t leave residue if you use them properly, plus there is the major fun factor of peeling off the mask after use. The drawback is that it can take some skill and practice to use, particularly getting the mask to the consistency that works for your needs and applying it into a smooth layer for easy removal.
This kit makes it much easier with an included scoop for a 2:1 powder to liquid ratio. The powder is in a resealable bag in a cardboard container, which I like for sustainable packaging and convenient storage. I tried a mask with 2 scoops of powder and had enough to cover my cheeks, chin, and part of my forehead and nose. It worked well but was ready to remove in about 7 minutes, probably due to the thinner application. Next time I will try 4 scoops to cover my full face and to have a thicker mask to pull off. A thicker mask will take longer to dry, which means you can enjoy it for longer.
Tip: resist the urge to let it stay on too long. When it dries, you’ll have to chip it off. Make sure you remove it once it’s no longer sticky. If it feels like it is cracking, take it off ASAP. Make sure you don’t let the jelly get in your sink or drain. Toss the used mask in the trash and wipe your bowl and spatula clean.
The mask has a nice, generic “motel soap” kind of smell that fades once applied. My skin felt very soft and smooth afterwards, not tight at all the way it does with some masks that have to be washed off. Much as I like sheet masks, I’m not a fan of the sticky residue left

I love a mask that peels off and this one does just that. First of all the container is fairly large (I photo’ed at a weird angle that fails to show that)- there’s probably enough powder to do 20 masks, at least how I mixed it. They included a nice stainless steel measuring spoon and a little silicon spatula for applying the mixture to your face. You’ll just need a container to mix the stuff up in- I recommend a paper cup.
This could be kind of messy if you don’t take care, but I did ok with it. It’s not recommended to put the product down your sink (to avoid clogging your plumbing) so that paper cups was great, plus I put paper towel under my mixing area. The mixing ratio they recommended worked out pretty well- you’re basically mixing up a gel from powered. At first I had difficulty getting it stick to my face without sliding off- adding a little extra water to get the consistency of pudding and you want to put it on fairly thick. While I let the mask set up, I cleaned up my tools by just wiping them off with a paper towel, (so I didn’t send any of the gel down my sink. ) With a fairly thick application of this gel on your face, plan for not being too active while it sets up.
After the recommended 20 mins it still seemed a bit tacky on the surface but it had solidified enough it could be peeled. I gave it another 5-10 mins but it didn’t seem like it was going to dry beyond that. I was able to peel off in about 3 big chunks- somewhat satisfying! A few areas where it was applied very thinly were harder to remove- so apply thickly! I did a quick rinse with water and the thin bits came off. Best of all my face actually felt super moisturized afterwards- like my skin felt supple and doughy for hours, without putting any moisturizer on.
Scientific Baking –
This hyaluronic jelly mask mixes easily. There is a substantial metal tablespoon scoop included to measure out the powder and water. There is also a silicone spatula included to mix the powder and water. It does have a slight fragrance when you put it on and remove it, but otherwise it is not overpowering.
Be sure to put paper towels or something like that to cover the area you are mixing it up and to also cover the drain to your sink. You do not want this to go down your drain, as it may clog it. Wipe off the spatula and container that you use, before washing them.
Be careful not to get any of the mask on your eyes, eyebrows, hairline, in your nostrils, or on your lips. If your wear glasses, it is best not to have them on while wearing the mask.
The mask can be applied by the silicone spatula or your fingers. Put on a thick layer. Allow it to dry for 20-30 minutes. When you remove the mask be sure to put the pieces into the trash not in your plumbing. If the mask is thick enough it will peel off easily. If any area of the mask is thin, it will be harder to remove. Gently remove it with your fingertips, or lightly with your nails if needed. Rinse your face after all the mask is removed.
The mask leaves the skin feeling soft, a slightly bit tighter, and very smooth.
Irish White Dove –
This comes in a powder form to be mixed with water. The instructions are clear and there’s an included silicone brush to mix and apply with.
After spreading it on it felt cool and nice on my skin. I left it on for 15 minutes. When I was removing it I realized that it came away easily in larger pieces. I used a warm washcloth to be sure it was all off and was pleasantly surprised with how smooth my skin felt. I put on moisturizer right after and went to bed.
I’ve been using it a few times a week and getting good results. Definitely something worth ordering!
