To start out, my skin is very pale and sensitive. I have a UV(sun) allergy; while that is it’s own problem, it causes a lot of other complications with my skin in the long run. I love Freeman’s products- they are effective and dirt cheap.
For this mask in particular, I have seen many reviews that say it is not a mask, just a scrub. When you first use it, you will understand why it seems that way. But it is a mask as well and should be used as one. Charcoal in skin care products is beneficial because when it left on the surface of skin, it pulls oil from the inner part of the pore(which is hard to do without STRIPING the oil from the pore). So leaving this product on your face for 5-7 minutes like it says to do is a key part of the process. It’s just not what people are used to in a mask. The black sugar part of the product is what is going to scrub away the dead skin. AND if you left the mask on prior to scrubbing, all the excess oil the charcoal pulled to the surface, the black sugar will remove.
Now, my funny story! The first time I used this product, I had horribly rough skin(repairing from a bad sunburn). I smeared this on thick and watched TV for a bit. I left it on a lot longer than it says to, but there was no discomfort. It was kind of soothing and warm. When I hopped into the shower to wash it off, the mask was still sticky and I started massaging it into my face, adding only a little water at a time. I put my hands into the water to get a little more and my hands felt so soft it startled me! I choked on some of the mask(which tastes just like sugar…) and washed the rest off. My face was as soft as my hands, and I’ve never felt such a huge difference in the texture of my skin with just one use of something. I am a firm believer that you need to take care of your skin every day for it to be healthy and beautiful. Nothing works over night, nothing is a miracle potion. Everything takes time because your skin goes through cycles. If you cut yourself, nothing you put on it will heal it right away. It’s the same for your skin. But this mask/scrub threw me for a loop because it gave me a very significant result with the first use. It’s kept my skin from overdrying and from getting too oily- a good balance for about 2 days after use. It’s a great exfoliator, without being harsh. And the prices is beyond reasonable. I’d recommend it to anyone, it’s my new favorite mask!

I’m always hesitant to try any new facial product because I have very sensitive skin, but after reading other reviews, I decided to give Freeman Polishing Charcoal & Black Sugar Facial Gel Mask+ Scrub a try. I have been very pleased with the results. It’s a little tricky to apply, because its kind of crumbly, but after its applied, it’s easy to scrub with a cloth and remove. It left my skin feeling great, and no breakout! Its a great value for the price and I highly recommend this product!

This scrub is my absolute favorite. I am typically disappointed with most scrubs I have purchased in the past because the product lacks actual scrubbing ingredient. This scrub feels like washing your face with wet sand! and gives an amazing glow after use. However, the ingredients are gentle enough for daily use. Such a great value.

Había probado muchas mascarillas, de marcas tanto económicas como caras, mi piel es mixta con tendencia acneica aunque por el momento ya no tengo acné más que dos granitos, sin duda es la mejor mascarilla en verdad comprenla!!!!!! Esperaba un producto malo por el precio pero no, en verdad es la mejor mascarilla. Es gentil con la piel y la limpia a profundidad, me dejó un brillo hermoso y mucha frescura, mis poros están limpios y mi piel más clara, al ponerme mi maquillaje note mas la diferencia ya que se aplicaba mejor la base y quedaba una piel lisa sin textura. Apenas llevo un día usándola y ya veo resultados. La seguiré usando. No piensen más en comprarla, por ese precio y esa cantidad es un excelente producto.

Definitely more of a scrub than a mask. But I really like the scrub. I don’t think it’s too harsh for my skin, even though I have been seeing that chemical exfoliants are better than grainy scrubs. Oh well, I like the clean, fresh feeling this scrubs gives me.

This facial mask and scrub is amazing! It detoxifies and exfoliates in one easy step. The charcoal draws out impurities, while the black sugar gently polishes my skin, leaving it smooth and refreshed. After each use, i feel like cleaner and brighter skin. I’ve been using the trial or “travel size” versions of Freeman products for a few months now and I really like them! I purchased the 0.5 oz packets for $2.00 each at Sally’s and they are great for testing out whether or not the product is right for you. So far I’ve tried the Honeydew and Camomile Sleeping Mask which I love, the Sweet Tea & Lemon Peel-Away Clay Mask which was alright, and the Dead Sea Minerals Anti-Stress Mask which was also very nice. But I also bought the trial size of this mask, the Charcoal & Black Sugar Polish Mask. I hadn’t used it in the past months despite just learning about my love for exfoliating, but I figured that because I enjoyed the last few masks I tried that I would go ahead and buy the full size! There are a few reasons why I really recommend buying the full size. The first being that you get literally 10 times the product for only three times the price. At $6.47 for 6.0 ounces at Walmart the full size offers much more than the $2.00 for 0.5 ounces in the trial size.
As for the actual product, I really like it! I just tried it tonight and it was quite an interesting experience. I will say that this is the first Freeman product that I’ve tried that actually smells nice. The other products don’t “reek” per-se but baby powder and play-doh aren’t really pleasing smells to me, but I can get over that if the product is very beneficial. This product, however, could easily be confused for a very light, floral perfume! My father described the look of the product as a “very concerning monkey poo” as it is pitch black with many large granules of black sugar in it. It is warm when stored at room temperature and feels very gooey and thick to the touch. Applying it to the face is very nice and coarse, just how I prefer my exfoliating scrubs! I applied it heavily and rubbed it into my driest areas, one of which being my eyebrows. I had just plucked my eyebrows lightly to remove stray hairs and my skin was a bit irritated, but my skin is not very sensitive otherwise so I decided to see how the exfoliating would affect my skin. To my surprise it made my entire face very smooth, including my eyebrows! People often forget to apply product (that is non-hair removing or peeling) on the eyebrows as well because there is skin under there. This product took great care of my skin and even my eyebrow hairs, so I definitely have to recommend it and any Freeman ‘Feeling Beautiful’ face products!
