    I have struggled with eczema all my life, and while Skin MD is no cure, after a month or so of using this, I can confidently say it really does the trick in terms of helping to keep it under control. While the lotion is extremely light, it is extremely soothing and does seem to help restore the natural skin barrier relatively quickly. My skin feels more resilient already – the same amount of scratching does not result in deep cuts but only surface scrapes.

    Although the website claims it’s all you need, and to just repeatedly apply it until your natural skin barrier is restored, that is only true when the natural humidity is over 40% or so. On a trip to the East Coast at the end of February, with heating going full blast everywhere, I found that mid-flare, when I had already scratched my skin all raw, I had to apply Skin MD to soothe and hydrate my skin, and then apply a layer of Cerave or Restoraderm (or even better still, Atopiclair or Avene XD) on top to lock it in. The combination worked, not Skin MD OR Cerave/Restoraderm alone, to heal my skin really quickly. (How bad was bad? I was waking up every 2 hours to remoisturize the first couple of nights of my trip.)

    Now that I’m back in a humid environment, one or two applications a day is sufficient. It works out to a similar price per use as Restoraderm or Cerave – a little goes a long way BUT not quite as far as the makers would suggest. (The 4oz bottle was marketed as “enough for 3 months” but obviously it will depend on how much of your body is affected by eczema.) As another reviewer pointed out, it feels like a makeup primer, no doubt because of the use of silicones. The plus is that it is easy to reapply mid-day without getting your clothing all greasy, as it somehow both spreads easily and sinks in quickly.

    I tested SkinMD at my local compounding pharmacy and had to order some from Amazon. I have extremely delicate and dry skin, and it’s difficult to balance products I use for hydration. Aquaphor and similar products are typically considered the “holy grail” for creating a barrier, but they always left my skin, especially my face, feeling gross and sticky. SkinMD is the solution and new holy grail.

    I have Ehler’s Danlos Syndrome, an auto-immune disease, and zinc deficiency. These health conditions mean that it’s hard for my skin to heal, and I’m especially prone to various infections. Maintaining healthy skin is impossible without a solid skincare routine. SkinMD has been incredible for those issues, and a little goes a long way!

    Because my skin is so sensitive and dry, I use SkinMD after applying a rich hand cream, body lotion, and facial skincare products. It’s pretty amazing for my face, and I haven’t woken up with hydrated and soft skin like this in a long time! My usual hand cream is very rich and leaves a greasy feeling, but putting SkinMD over it reduces the greasy feeling and leaves my hands feeling super soft and protected.

    I love products that are multi-purpose and can actually be used on all parts of my body! It’s annoying and expensive to have a lot of separate products for face, hands, and body. SkinMD is effective for all of those areas, and I’m so excited I found this. I’ll definitely be sharing my new beauty secret with everyone!

    I keep this by my sink. Use it everything I wash my hands. In this dry indoor climate it works to keep my hands from drying out.

    I was really excited to try the Skin MD Natural Shielding Lotion after reading the many reviews from others who suffer from various skin ailments like myself and have used this product. I know how challenging it can be to find a product that can work well for our sensitive skin. It’s always a trial and error. Thankfully enough, this product hasn’t broken me out or caused any allergies of any sort to happen which I’m happy about. It’s a nice lightweight formula that isn’t sticky or greasy and has no fragrance whatsoever.

    This 4oz. was perfect for me to try out for the first time most especially since I can carry it with me if I have to leave the house. It worked great for anytime after sanitizing my hands. I also used this after showering or anytime after washing my face in the morning and before bed. The directions do say to apply every 2-8 hours until moisture improves which I had to do often for my face. Initially, it took a while to see improvement. However as the days went by during the week, I did notice the areas where dryness was apparent, were subtly softened. If I wasn’t consistent on applying this every 2-8 hours, I would’t have seen a difference. That’s for sure. It also helped to lessen the redness and irritation I had prior to using this.

    Overall, i’d say it’s a good product that does help most especially if you have skin irritations or flare ups like me. Yes, the value can be a bit pricey, but the benefits are worth it.

    I have used this lotion before. The pharmacy where I had previously bought it was sold and I was unable to find it to buy. I was excited to find it on Amazon especially at such a good price!!! I took before and after of just one use. The first photo was before the second was the after. You can already see a difference. Not only do I have sensitive skin I also have a very sensitive sense of smell. Which makes it very difficult to find a lotion that not only helps my dry skin but doesn’t bother my sense of smell. I have Fibromyalgia which makes the feel of most lotions bother me. Skin MD doesn’t have a strong odor, it works great to heal my dry skin and best of all it soaks right into my skin it doesn’t leave a heavy oily or sticky feeling the way most lotions do!!! I highly recommend this lotion!!!

    I have been buying this for several years and it’s my #1 go to lotion. I use it all over my body including face. It isn’t greasy or sticky.
