I feel like when most of us think of black currant we don’t really know what that’s going to smell like. To be honest I can tell you what a black currant even looks like. But with that being said I loved the smell. It’s a very subtle fruity, fresh and also a little earthy smell. It’s a very strong scent but in a good way. The color is the most vibrant purple/ pink I’ve ever seen and it goes on the same color.
The scrub itself is kind of gel like and gooey. The sugar crystals inside are smaller which means it doesn’t hurt as much when you’re scrubbing your skin – but could also mean it isn’t doing as good of a job scrubbing dirt and grime off your skin. I thought it was the right amount of coarseness and didn’t rub my skin raw or make me itch after using it. It also didn’t leave my skin oily which is something I’m always nervous about when using scrubs or lotions.
Overall i thought this was one of the best body scrubs I’ve tried due to the scent, color, moisturizer, and cleansing sugar crystals. I would buy this brand again and would also be interested in seeing what other scents they make

This is my first time trying a body scrub from Stenders and I am impressed!!! I like to alternate exfoliating face and body scrubs with my regular products. It really helps remove a lot of dead skin and leaves my skin feeling and looking super soft and healthy!
The Stenders Black Currant scrub smells absolutely FANTASTIC!!! It’s fresh, fruity, and definitely on the stronger side. Thankfully, I LOVE fruit fragrances so this was right up my alley. Even after rinsing and drying, the scent lingers on my skin for quite some time.
The consistency is thinner than I was expecting. It is gel like with some grit to it. It is NOT overly abrasive whatsoever. I was expecting something with a bit more coarseness to it like an apricot scrub but it’s much milder than that. It still does a good job of exfoliating without irritating my skin or causing redness.
Unlike many other body scrubs, this one didn’t leave my skin feeling heavy, coated, or oily, nor did it make my shower slippery. I recently used a coffee body scrub infused with olive oil that turned my shower into an ice skating rink!!! SUPER dangerous to say the least. I didn’t notice any residue left behind after using the Stenders.
The nice, big jar will last me a long time, too!

I got the Stenders Black Currant Body Scrub and wow. The scent is super strong. I like it thankfully. It’s a very natural smelling scrub. The scrub is not super scrubby. It is in a gel which lathers so I can cleanse and scrub with one product. It exfoliates but mildly. The scent wafts through my bathroom and stays on my skin for a while. The color is a little more purple than my photos show, a deep currant shade. It doesn’t stain the tub or anything else. It washes away easily. My skin feels exfoliated and hydrated after I use this scrub. I wish it were just a bit scrubbier but this is a good everyday kind of scrub to maintain my skin. It makes a great gift; just be sure the recipient LOVES the smell of black currents or berries in general!

This scrub isn’t a total failure – it does exfoliate. However, I’m only rating it three stars. The color is pretty, but the scent is super chemically and strong. It reminds me of a cough syrup.
Secondly, the quantity of sugar/scrub crystals in the mix is fairly low. It’s mostly an oily paste, with minimal crystals. So you really have to get quite a lot of scrub out to get good coverage.

I ordered the STENDERS Blackcurrant body scrub through the Vine program and was really looking forward to getting it. For starters, it is a large container, the constistancy of the scrub is fine, and a beautiful color. I’ve used it on my hands (worked wonderfully), elbows, knees, and feet. It didn’t leave any greasy feel on my skin nor the bath tub, something I have found to be an issue with other scrubs. As far as how it works, there are no issues, my skin feels fine, especially my hands. My issue is with the smell – I pick up a very unpleasant smell. I had 3 co-workers smell it: 2 thought it just smell very “berry” but the 3rd was like me and picked up on another not so pleasant scent. I’ll continue to use it because it feels very good (though one co-worker volunterred to take is off my hands) but not as a general, all-over body scrub. I’m on the fence about recommending – how a person perceives the scent may be more of a deciding factor than how well it works.

I didn’t post a pic because another reviewer did so perfectly and truly captured what the STENDERS Blackcurrant body scrub looks like. Now for the smell and feel.
I was doubtful about the scent. I don’t even know what black currant smells like, to be honest. The scrub comes in a jar with a screw off lid. I first tested the product on my hand, as it arrived after I had already showered. The smell- WOW. Just… WOW. If that’s black currant, then gimme all the black currant everything. It’s not too sweet. Not bitter. Not floral. Very unisex.
The color is intense. You stare at it and think, do I spread this on toast, do I top a muffin with this, what do I do with such a lovely goo? The scrub is medium consistency, not too thin, not too thick. The scrubbies are about a medium size. Not tiny sugar sizes, and not huge chunks. They are also not too abrasive on the skin. You won’t rip your skin off with this scrub is what I am trying to say.
Rinse and you will have a lingering scent for about an hour. It left my skin smooth for that time, but later in the evening I felt dry again and needed lotion. It’s getting pretty cold here and the house is super dry inside right now.
I think this is very gifty and would impress your people who enjoy such a product. I say take the risk on black currant as a smell because I’m very very picky about the smell of products and I just like to inhale this one and go ahhhhh so nice.
Five stars from me. So glad I get to experience this scrub!
