I’m so happy to have discovered this brand a few months ago. With a metabolic disease in my family, the cost of supplements (which faulty and aged bodies don’t derive from food as easily) can be overwhelming. This brand is showing up more and more in our home.
As others mentioned, best effects (for us) come when pairing with Alpha Lipoic Acid & Co-Enzyme Q10… which would likely be the same case for anyone over 50.
I don’t actually notice it helping, only that I start feeling foggy when I skip it for a while. It’s an easy-to-take size, in my opinion.
Definitely start at a lower dose and work your way up! I decided to increase dosages for my daughter and I, to the higher end of our recommended ranges. I couldn’t figure out why I was becoming more anxious and losing patience with everything, until my daughter’s temper started flaring.
Now we’re back to our normal dosages and all is well. I take 1500 mg daily, and my daughter takes 1000 mg. I think if you are taking this supplement because you NEED it (need cognitive support, or have special needs), it’s a great idea to take the higher end of recommended dosages, if you’re able to without any negative effects!

I love this product! It has really helped with my daily migraine battle. I take it twice a day along with Naturewise Curcumin that I also order off amazon and these two together have gotten rid of joint and back pain at night and morning stiffness along with migraines being kept at bay without having to take any other medications which is a big win for me. I would highly recommend for people with any type of arthritis, migraines, or nerve pain. It also gets rid of the brain fog that goes along with migraines which makes you feel more energetic.

There’s a bunch of reviews, including mine, posted for Jarrow’s Acetyl L-Carnitine where we were notified via another customer and his post that Jarrow no longer had a pharmaceutical grade Acetyl L-Carnitine and in fact, they had switched to a distributor from China. The thing is, Acetyl L-Carnitine has to cross the blood-brain barrier and I’m not okay with the loss of the pharmaceutical grade and it now coming from China (if you are wondering why, you may want to look into Tryptophan and encephalitis it has caused with the distributor also being from China). The really strange thing is that prior to me finding this out, I had noticed that I was struggling with short term memory issues again and lost my photographic memory recall. I was actually crushed by this and thought this was the sign of aging. Imagine my relief that it may be due to the switch in quality of the product! I wasn’t sure yet though.
I went on the hunt to find another manufacturer of Acetyl L-Carnitine. All my work landed me here with Amazing Formula’s Amazing Nutrition Acetyl L-Carnitine HCL. I started ordering the product and taking it in exactly the same way, same strength as the Jarrow’s product. Because I set it out in pill containers that cover a week at a time, I really stopped thinking about who was the manufacturer because the pill looked identical in color and size as the Jarrow product.
Because I was taking Acetyl L-Carnitine already, it didn’t take long for things to start getting better again. I would say about a month, maybe less. The change came in a flash… that is, in a flash of a picture in my head of something I needed to recall and there it was as clear as day (I always say “I see it”, but it is actually memory recall as in photographic memory). I love that and I was so excited when I realized what just happened! I knew for that to take place, it had to mean my short term memory recovered and I was guessing it was better because I wasn’t losing things anymore, but was it really better?? Yes and it a lot of ways! I knew why I was always walking into rooms. I wasn’t losing everything in my life (keys, eyeglasses, purse, wallet, etc. the list is endless). I could go on, but I will stop there. Did I mention I was diagnosed with ADHD as an adult, but clear evidence is there since my childhood (meaning, I don’t have the innate skills to self-manage it like adults do when they were diagnosed as a child and given all the skills to self-manage)? That’s why I started taking this and Alpha Lipoic Acid.
I’ll do one better. Typical of people with ADHD, I was quite the klutz. I was always dropping things and knocking things over, too. When I was using the Jarrow’s pharmaceutical grade, and this is another thing I never expected, I started catching everything I accidentally was dropping and knocking over. Do you realize how fast you have to be to catch something that you caused to fall? Also, if you were never a person who was good at catching things, do you realize how much in awe I was that I was catching the things I was accidentally causing to fall? It’s like I gained a super-power! (LOL! Not really, but still so amazing to me!).I also lost this during the time that Jarrow dropped their pharmaceutical grade in their Acetyl L-Carnitine product, but remember, I was blaming this on getting older if it no longer was an ADHD thing.
I have been taking Amazing Forumulas Acetyl L-carnitine for about 2 months now. You wouldn’t believe what happened to me the other day. I’m emptying out a cabinet at the end of our counter, so I’m putting things on the counter that are along 2 edges, because it’s a corner of the counter. I don’t know why, but my hand was coming up from below the counter to reach for something else in the cabinet above me and I knocked into something on the counter. That thing started knocking into other things and eventually, I had stuff that was about to fall off both sides of the counter! What was about to fall included food in glass jars. A catastrophe was imminent. I acted so quickly and I do not know how, but I was able to stop everything from falling off 2 sides of the counter onto the floor and then anything else that was about to be knocked over onto its side on the counter! I stood there staring at what I had just done. I was stunned and was in disbelief at what I had just done. Then I smiled because I knew I just recovered my ability to catch all the stuff I cause to fall, but I just did it like I was ramped up on steroids or something, LOL!! No, not really, but Amazing Nutrition’s Acetyl L-Carnitine is even exceeding all the benefits that I saw with the Jarrow’s “pharmaceutical grade” of the same product. That’s impressive!
I have no idea how this is going to work for anyone else. I am shocked at all the improvements it has given me! I was looking for help with ADHD and I got so much more than I bargained for and I’m so grateful for that. I’m so happy that one customer pointed out that Jarrow’s stopped the quality product production allowing me to realize what I lost wasn’t due to age. I am so grateful to have had a second chance to recover it all again! Thanks Amazing Formulas/Amazing Nutrition!! (P.S. – Please don’t ever drop your quality!!)

Seem to work. Easy to swallow pills, no side effects, upset stomach, headache etc. I take quite a few supplements, so hard to say if it’s this poll or combination, but overall sense of well being for certain. Keep in mind, any supplement doesn’t work immediately, long term commitment. Don’t expect immediate results.
