Wife is having a hard time eating, so the high calorie drink helps her keep weight. Taste leaves a lot to be desired, but that is subjective.

I was shocked when I started to gain and maintain the weight since I began drinking this. I was 103 and now 108.8lbs with very minimal eating and I didn’t drink it every day either. Im the type that if the wind blows to hard I lose 10lbs easy then get stressed out because its so hard to put it back on. Not anymore. I must mention that I have tried Cb1 extra strength, periactin, apetamin, ensure plus and all of those plus nasty shakes did not work. I was a bit worried about the bloating and upset stomach but did not have any of those issues because I have purchased the lactose free.
The taste is awesome. Like a smooth vanilla milk shake best served cold. The only bad thing…I cant stop the little gremlins from drinking it!!! When nutrition and caloric intake is a problem, you want to be sure that every bite (or swallow) counts. In the same volume as other drink supplements, this packs in double the calories.
This high calorie formula only comes in vanilla. The taste is the same as the regular formula, and the consistency is a tad thicker.
Although he liked it, after a while, my son started to tire of vanilla at every meal.
I bought some strong, French Roast instant coffee and discovered this makes for a pretty dang delicious frappuccino. Dissolve a tsp-tbsp of instant coffee in as little hot water as possible. You want to add concentrated flavor, not volume. Add this coffee slurry to the carton of Boost and you’ve just created a nutritional coffee drink.
A couple other options for variety:
1 – Mix with orange juice concentrate to create a Creamsicle/Orange Julius drink. Instead of just using juice, use frozen canned concentrate. If you use already mixed juice, you have to use almost a 1:1 ratio in order for the juice flavor to come through. Having to double the volume defeats the whole purpose of concentrated calories. A tbsp of frozen concentrate is about right for one box.
Lime concentrate was yummy too. Other frozen juice flavors (apple and cranberry) mixed w/ this vanilla (in my sons opinion), were too sweet. Be creative. I’m sure any juice concentrate would work.
2 – A squeeze of chocolate syrup turns this into a chocolate drink. I used dark chocolate syrup so it would be less sweet.
My son had gone from 175 to 110 lbs post surgery. Tube feeding formulas gave him horrible digestive problems, but he had no appetite and did not want to eat. This was the miracle drink that got him back on his feet.

My hubby lived of these for a while when he was trying to gain weight and didn’t have the time or appetite to eat full meals. He went from 115lbs to 135 in 2 months. I tried these myself and they taste great, almost like a cakey dessert flavor. There is no artificial or bad aftertaste at all, and it has a thick-ish milkshake-like consistency. At some point he was drinking 4 of these a day with no stomach issues at all, I would highly recommend these for anyone trying to gain weight!

I am an endomorph (high metabolism, very active) and maintaining healthy weight is difficult. I am a Geriatric nurse and use often as Boost VHC is drink of choice at most nursing homes and hospitals as calorie supplement. It is ideal because it’s Calorie dense (at 530 Calories per 8oz) with great flavor and includes large amount of protein (22 grams) for tissue building and skin integrity(wound healing, bed sore treatment and prevention, good source of vitamins and minerals, tastes great despite only 14 grams of sugar.. Can be served chilled or room temperature, Well tolerated by those with lactose intolerance.
I would recommend equal amounts water to facilitate digestion, however even without water every time and drinking two cartons per day for several months I have not noticed any constipation or GI upset like I have experienced with other dense supplements.
Easily drink alone or mixed into milkshake. I drink about 2 hours between meals to help make my 3500 calorie intake and it does not hinder my appetite nor affect my energy levels even during a workout. Perfect for post workout snack to provide quick easy calories immediately and prevent muscle loss by providing good proportion of fat, protein and carbs. Highly recommend for anyone who needs calorie supplement that is nutrient dense and tastes great. Ideally one should not replace a supplement for a meal, however does provide a broad range of nutrients for those who have trouble eating. Packaged in box that is perforated to fit in fridge and allow other items to be stacked on top. Can be stored at room temperature or in the fridge and has a straw and a side slot for pouring.
