The Swanson 500 mg capsules packaged in 300 capsule bottles is an excellent value when purchased in the 4 pack form. The price is much lower per gram than other offerings on Amazon, or other vendors, and certainly much lower than buying in a retail store. The only way to get the product cheaper is if you buy the L-Lysine in a bulk package and consume the amino acid directly. Even if you purchased the bulk product and put it in capsules or tablet form yourself, you would spend more in materials, waste, and labor than just buying it directly from Swanson.
The L-Lysine is as pure and contamination free as from any other source of amino acids. Swanson brand supplements are available from many retailers and have a good reputation.
FYI – “Free Form” just means that no other additives such as fillers, preservatives, or anti-caking agents are added. It is just the pure amino acid. That is probably why it is provided in capsule form since fillers would be needed to make it into tablet form.
The questions section asked where this product was made. The answer is that the product was made from corn grown in the Midwest USA and probably extracted by either Archer-Daniels Midland or Cargill. These are the two largest suppliers of L-lysine in the USA (maybe the world). Since the pure amino acid is extracted from the corn, there is no difference between corn that is GMO vs non-GMO.
Purchasing 4 – 300 capsule bottles will last several years if only one person is consuming them and taking one capsule/day. Light, heat, moisture, and oxygen are the things that degrade these organic molecules. Storing the unopened, sealed bottles in a freezer preserves the “freshness” so that really should not be a problem (I do it for all my vitamins and supplements).
In conclusion, purchasing the 4 pack of the L-Lysine is good value. If you can store the unopened bottles in a freezer, you will be able to use them for a long time without concerns about the product degrading.

This is such a blessing for me! I have Liking Plantis which is an auto immune disease that causes large painful sores on gums in mouth. This product generally keeps it at bay but if I do have a flare up it helps heal it up much more quickly. I take two capsules daily and when I have a flare up I double the dose. So happy to find it in capsule form! Makes it so much easier to swallow! Highly recommend for any type of skin issue!

This seems like a good product to help me with my rheumatoid arthritis. I have been taking it for 2 1/2 months and I do have some improvement. There is a belief that a herpesvirus maybe responsible for some RA symptoms. There is no side effects. It is known that l lysine is good for the herpesvirus.
