These are really good and really fill a good place around protein candy but the sweetener they use (erythritol) causes a unique thing where it cools the mouth and to me that’s an odd sensation. I’d prefer they were less sweet and didn’t have this in it at all. 8/10 cuz of this.

I am definitely torn on these. I absolutely love peanut butter M&Ms, so when I saw these, I knew it was an instant purchase. They are quite similar to peanut butter M&Ms or Reese’s Pieces—actually, surprisingly close, in terms of taste and texture.
I was pretty surprised by the ingredients and nutrition facts: 170 calories, 12g total fat, 10g saturated fat, 25g total carbs, 2g fiber, 1g total sugar, 10g protein, and somehow, 20g of erythritol for a single bag.
From the first bite, you immediately notice the erythritol. It’s clear they were aiming for that ultra-sweet, tasty peanut butter M&Ms flavor, but I think they dropped the ball by using so much erythritol. The taste and sweetness are there, but so is the cooling effect from the erythritol, and it’s very noticeable. The flavor is fantastic, but everything is overpowered by the intense cooling sensation from the high amount of erythritol. It almost felt like I was eating a weird peanut butter candy with mint. It’s just odd and somewhat unpleasant.
Overall, I’m definitely torn. I’ve always consumed erythritol in moderation due to certain studies showing potential risks (especially that very recent study), so the high amount of erythritol, paired with the overpowering cooling sensation and the staggering 50% of the daily saturated fat in a single bag, puts it in a weird place for me. I enjoy the “everything in moderation” mindset, so I don’t mind indulging in a high-saturated-fat treat. However, I just don’t think this would be at the top of my list for something worth indulging in unless they swapped out at least some of the erythritol for a different sweetener.

There’s no reason fake sugar should taste so gross in 2024 given all the choices out there. I really wanted some yummy candies, but this ain’t that.

What’s not to love about high protein, low sugar candies that are filled with taste and flavor?! honestly these are PERFECT! Well done Quest!

… they should be illegal. Thankfully, though, they are not.

The name brand of these are my favorite candy, but I rarely ever buy them. I tried these on a whim, and I am not obsessed. They are delicious and taste so similar to the regular ones. I did see someone mention the cooling effect, and I can see that a little bit when I am eating them. However; I just get so much more of the peanut butter and it just tastes like normal to me.
I wish these were cheaper since we have been going through them pretty quickly since even my husband loves them.

A great alternative to reeses pieces when you are diabetic.

Usually, Quest treats are great but they don’t taste like the better-known product (for example the peanut butter cups – very tasty, but nothing like Reese’s). These, on the other hand, really are a dupe but with better ingredients and a more rounded/spherical shape. Fantastic.
