This is some of the worst tasting protein powder i’ve tasted so far. Been mixing with Oatly oat milk (instead of the suggested water) and it really doesn’t make this any better. Can’t imagine the taste when mixing with the suggested water! If you’re used to the Whey taste, this is different. It has a plant-like/earthy after taste that isn’t pleasant, along with a horrible gritty mouthful. Not matter how much I shake my blender bottle it just doesn’t get smoother. Even tried the ice flow through trick that Huel recommends on the container! Just not a great Whey replacement and wont be purchasing again.

Good plant based protein. Didn’t taste chalky or leave any weird after taste. I like the strawberry flavor best. Add in some frozen berries, whip it up and it’s a great drink.

I am pleased with this protein powder. No grainy tasted very fine texture and taste very good.

I have literally tried all vegan protein powders going back to 2016. It was a very long, and sad journey of constant disappointments left and right. They were either too expensive, too chalky, overpoweringly sweetened with stevia leaf or monk fruit, or they didnt mix well at all, had a weird aftertaste, or worse, they settle and form the quicksand of death at the bottom of your cup if you dont chug it.
Huel has several tiers of protein powder. This Complete line, is my favorite in terms of macros, taste, and cost. I like it by itself in cold water, or with instant coffee, or if I am feeling adventurous – with greens powder. Its perfect for a snack, or double up for a light meal on the go. (Depending on your needs, Im not a top level body builder, but I am a mighty mouse. 😎)
The perfect way to get this fully incorporated is one of those little hand held coffee frothers. I got one made by Foodville, here on Amazon, and its super powerful. Mixing on medium ensures the liquid stays in the cup, and the powders get dissolved properly. Unlike other powders (looking at you Garden of Life), this doesnt froth at all! Its great!
The Huel Complete Protein line is very versatile. I really like all the flavors, this vanilla one is my go to for coffee when I first get up. The strawberry is great for sweet cravings. Add some lemon juice and some
plain vegan yogurt to that one and you can have a strawberry lemon cheesecake. The chocolate one, add some cinnamon and cayenne for a Mexican “hot chocolate”, or add coconut cream and almond butter for an Almond Joy shake. Mix both the chocolate and strawberry powders together for chocolate covered strawberries. Put some blitzed mint leaves or you could cheat and use drops, for an Andes after dinner chocolate shake.
Im also grateful for not having to pay $40 in shipping by going to the Huel site every time I need to stock up. I like the discounts for military/student/healthcare available on their site, but that quickly disappears to nothing thanks to the various levels of shipping.
On a side note, unfortunately, they are not selling their instant meals or instant cups here on Amazon yet. I am pretty wary of 3rd party sellers after being burned, so I will wait to see the, “sold by Huel, shipped by Amazon” tag.
If you work really long days, and are super tired when you get home, those instant meals are an easy 400calories. Add in some Dang chick’n, edamame, frozen broccoli (or veg of choice) and in 6 minutes you can a good tasting 600+ calorie meal. So yeah, Huel!!! Step it up and list those too!!!
Thank you for coming to my Huel Ted talk. Please try the flavors. I wasnt really a fan of their Black line, even though the macros were really nice, I couldnt make it through a bag. This complete line, for me anyway, is the one I chose to settle down with, have kids, a well manicured lawn and a white picket fence. Highly recommend. 10/10. Happy mixing!

I bought this as a trial size after doing some reading on different meal powders. I wanted something with a good mix of vitamins, not too bad a taste, and shelf stable. Huel provided that, but I likely won’t be buying it again, and move on in my product search. The mouthfeel was quite gritty. I made this exactly as instructions the first bottle, then with whole milk instead of water. My intention is to find a mix that works with powdered milk and a soluble fiber powder to portion out to packets I can leave at work and also take camping. But the Huel was just too unpleasant for me, and while I will be finishing the can, I likely will not be purchasing more. If you have a greater tolerance for the grittiness than I, I can say that the Vanilla Caramel flavor was good.
Other things I was not satisfied with:
It foamed quite a lot when mixed in a blender bottle
The scoop *was* included, but it was so buried in the can that I did not find it at first and had to dig it out with a butter knife
The amount of water/milk the instructions say to mix it with was weird, 10.15 oz. I originally thought that it was an awkward conversion from grams (since the included scoop size was listed in grams), but that’s not a round number either

This is one of the worst protein powders I’ve ever tried. Put it in a smoothie and even after using a blender it was super grainy. Worse than how poorly it mixes was the taste. Super chalky and inedible. Sadly not returnable. Waste of money. I’ve tried other Huel products and they aren’t bad. Not the case here.

I began using Huel recently because a nerve blocker I am taking for an injury has killed my appetite and I began losing muscle mass rapidly. This product is helping to save my muscle, no joke. I am drinking 2 of these a day (3 when I can manage) to help get in the protein and calcium I can’t get by diet alone right now. The taste is wonderful, it mixes easily with water, Almond milk, Oat milk or regular milk. I can mix it in a shaker bottle with just ice cubes, in a glass with a whisk or in a blender with fruit as a smoothie. There is no grittiness or ‘off’ taste. I have tried the vanilla & the chocolate and love them both. Bonus is I’m also getting some vitamins and the full essential amino acid profile. My son-in-law turned me onto Huel & I am 100% sold.

I just received and tried the strawberry flavor and I really like it. It blended well and tastes better than any other vegan protein powder I’ve tried before!
