I forage and grow for a lot of the mushrooms that are in this extract so I know what goes into growing and harvesting fungi. I believe 100% in the many health benefits of mushrooms so having such a convenient form to take advantage of them really appeals to me.
I’m just getting over COVID so it’s even more important to me to support my body right now. I add this to my morning drink, which also has about 5 or 6 other liquid supplements in it, to get my day off to a good start. The taste is sweet but otherwise fine and works well with all the other things I throw in.
Yes it’s pricy but growing and/or wild foraging mushrooms is time consuming and not exactly cheap – and then they extract the good stuff and bottle it. So it’s really not all that bad. I certainly will purchase this again when I feel the need for more…right now I’m going into foraging season and will be wild harvesting much of this myself so I probably won’t get more until late Fall/Winter. But I certainly will purchase again.

I consume mushrooms as a food and as part of my health supplement regimen. As a supplement, I use bulk powder and capsule versions to attain my desired dosage levels. I have used mushroom elixirs, liquid extracts, but they often contain alcohol, which I tend to avoid (unless used in cooking, where the alcohol is burned off). This product is a liquid extract, that does not list alcohol as an ingredient.
Although this product does use organic vegetable glycerin, probably as a carrier liquid. “Glycerin – Glycerol or more commonly called glycerin is, in simple terms, organic alcohol which is a mixture of sugar and alcohol and is fully miscible in water. Due to its properties, glycerin is used in a way or the other in nearly every industry.” (online source)
“Glycerin (C3H8O3), also known as glycerol and glycerine, is an odorless, colorless, oily, viscous liquid that has a sweet taste. Synthetic glycerin is used in food products, nutritional supplements, pharmaceutical products, personal-care products, and oral-care products. In the pharmaceutical industry, glycerin is used as a sweetener in syrups, lozenges, and as an excipient in eyewash solutions.” (Drugs.com) So, it’s a commonly found ingredient, and is the likely cause of the rather sweet aspect of this liquid extract.
I do like the choice of mushroom components: Reishi, Lions Mane, Chaga, Turkey Tail, Cordyceps, Maitake, Shiitake and Oyster Mushrooms. They are grouped into a Proprietary Mushroom Blend, with a 1:15 extract ratio. I believe it delivers the equivalence of 2000mg of the mushroom blend. The product label is slightly different than the one shown in the product details. But, the information is consistent.
I like the back story of the company and their statements on Impact and Sustainability. I am also impressed with their Quality text, noting: “Made from the best quality herbs, our products are tested to the highest standard by 3rd party certifiers.” I would regard this even higher if they had cGMP and/or FDA certification/badges displayed on the product label.
One tablespoon suggested serving results in only 23 servings in the container. Usually I prefer supplements to supply at least 30 servings (for about a month’s worth). When added to hot coffee (my usual beverage for powdered mushrooms), there was a noticeable sweetness. There wasn’t much of the earthy notes that I associate with mushroom powders. So, if you are not fond of the mushroom earthy flavors, you might find this product as a viable alternative.
Considering these initial impressions, this liquid mushroom extract garners a 4.5 star rating.

This is not my first experience with Herbal Goodness. I have purchased a few of their products before and have always been satisfied. This one is no exception. Before ordering this, I had no idea what the benefits of taking mushroom extract would be. I had recently just gotten over a bad cold and was feeling fatigued. After taking this daily for about a week, I feel much better. I’m able to get through my workouts without needing to take a break and I just feel like I got my strength back. Something I wasn’t feeling for a while there after this illness. I can’t say that is all the extracts doing but it did seem to assist in that. I had no stomach issues or sensitivities after consuming it. I mix it in some water and the taste is mildly sweet. I could definitely see myself continuing something like this but feel the price (currently listed at $33.95 for a 12 fluid oz bottle) is a bit steep. If you take just one tablespoon a day like I did, there are only 24 servings, which I’m just not sure is cost effective. Aside from that, it’s a good quality product and has me thinking about adding mushrooms supplements to my daily routine.
