It taste like iron and smells like a bucket of wet dog water. I recommend getting blue spirulina, this is gross.
Update: SO I figured out a way to make it palatable. Lemon powder. Doesnt take away the swamp smell but totally takes away the nasty taste and I can enjoy it now. I heard that green spirulina still has more benefits than blue so I gotta make myself drink this lol.

I use this daily in my smoothies and I love the taste. I’m horrible about taking vitamins so I’ve been trying to find ways to add what I need to my protein smoothies and not only does this taste great to me, it makes my smoothies a fun color that makes them more enticing to drink. The powder is VERY fine and messy so just be careful when scooping it into your drink!

Ordered this to make some detox smoothies. It’s delicious and easy to use. Packaging is nice and you get a decent amount for the price. Our family loves this brand and I like that I can get it so quickly on Amazon. We’ve had no tummy issues and it mixed easily into our smoothies.

From what I was reading about spirulina in regards to fitness, it seems that the benefits vary person-to-person. It reminds me of creatine and how some people swear by it and others don’t notice a difference if they take it or not. More research needs to be done, but it may be that people who have a higher amount of oxidative stress may be more likely to see a benefit from supplementing with spirulina. But I’ve also read that because it boosts the immune system, it could worsen autoimmune diseases like lupus, so use with caution.
Some resources say to take spirulina before workouts, some say immediate after, so that would be worth experimenting with to see what works best for you.
I’m a celiac (my condition is mild) and I’ve been taking one scoop after workouts, within 30 minutes of finishing. I noticed a significant improvement in DOMS post-workout. This includes after introducing a new exercise with a controlled eccentric component and pushing myself on that exercise.
I have a tendency to be excessively fatigued, especially after physical activity, and this may alleviate a small portion of that. Not enough for me to definitively say it’s the spirulina vs. placebo.
I will say, spirulina doesn’t taste great. It’s like chicken water. I would recommend mixing it with a drink flavoring packet (berry flavor works great), adding just enough water to give it a normal drink viscosity, stirring vigorously, then and chugging. I usually have to add a little more water and do another couple small chugs to get all of it. If you add it to bigger drink like a smoothie, you’ll just prolong how long you have to taste it.

When I first tried this, I put it with my caffeinated cool-aid. I figured “tasteless? sure I’ll just toss it in with whatever I’m drinking! Easy nutrient intake.” – no. It tasted like, and I’m not exaggerating, literal vomit. But! I blamed it on the cool-aid. Like “duh, maybe try it with water before going and mixing it with other drinks/shakes!”
No. The product tastes like you threw up before going to sleep and are waking up with the taste in your mouth. It’s nearly unbearable. I’ve had 3 different tests (cool-aid, glass of water, shot of water), and each time I had the exact same result: vomit taste and funky smell. I *really* wanted to be optimistic about this, because based on research, this stuff is PACKED with health benefits and nutrients and is considered a “superfood”. But I quite literally cannot get passed even taking it as a shot. The taste lingers, and the smell floats around in the air.
Also, as someone else mentioned – it is INCREDIBLY MESSY. You will have your fingers dyed blue for the next hour or two just by picking up the scoop from inside the bag, and best of luck to those with white kitchen spaces; I could only imagine this being a nightmare in such bright areas.
Pros: nutrient dense and extremely healthy, decently priced
Cons: taste and packaging
However, there’s 4 different kinds. I got the Style: 3. Luminous Blue Spirulina Powder, so maybe the other options have better experiences? …maybe. In the end, I’m giving 3 stars because it’s not really the company’s fault for this tasting poorly. But the packaging could’ve been much better.

So this stuff I have been wanting to try forever. It has a beautiful color to it and it mixes pretty well. But there are some downs to it. Like it is such a messy powder that i have every dealt with. The blue is everywhere and I feel like there could be a better way of packaging. The stuff is tasteless which was kind of confusing but its more like a healthy dye.
This stuff foams!!! I had no idea that it would do that and it does a very good job. I would say if you are trying to make like a meringue for your pie Put this in it to give it a nice color because it really does hold up. overall I am happy I bought this but its not one of my favorite things out there. But healthy which makes it the only reason why I would keep buying it later on.

Im pretty happy with the product itself and for the first pre workout i’ve ever tried it is a good one! I just wish it didnt taste kind of like berry flavored medicine – I have to add it in smoothies to kind of hide the flavor
