I was Vitamin D deficiency. So I showed this to my doctor and he said yes try those. Those should be good. It was a decent price so probably will buy again when I run out. I cannot taste them because I swallow them quickly and they’re easy to swallow.

WHAT IS VITAMIN D
In the early 20th century scientists were trying to find a vaccine/cure for rickets. Cod liver oil was found to prevent rocket and it was assumed that Vitamin A (in the cod liver oil) was responsible for curing rickets. However, upon further research it was found that cod liver oil was able to cure rickets even if the Vitamin A was removed from the cod liver oil. It was then realized that the substance responsible for curing rickets was different than Vitamin A and it was named as Vitamin D (since this was fourth vitamin to be discovered.) Vitamins were given generic names (A,B,C,D) because the exact chemical composition names of these vitamins were not known. thus they were given generic names.

WHAT IS VITAMIN D3
Upon further research there were different forms of Vitamin D found, Vitamin D1, D2, D3, D4, D5. They have slightly different compositions but have same effect on the body. Vitamin D3 is chemically known as calciferol.
HOW DOES BODY GET VITAMIN D3
Most of the Vitamin D in body is generated by body itself by a process that is triggered by exposure to sunlight. The epidermal layer of our skin contains 7-Dehydrocholesterol which is a precursor to vitamin D. When the sun’s ultraviolet rays touch the skin, they convert 7-Dehydrocholesterol to a molecule called vitamin D3 or cholecalciferol.
This vitamin D3 or cholecalciferol is an inactive form (meaning that body cannot use it yet.) Liver and kidney help to convert cholecalciferol to an active/useful form by converting it to calcifediol and calcitriol respectively. calcitriol is the form of Vitamin D that body can use.
So, if body is not able to get exposure to sun, then vitamin D3 or cholecalciferol cannot be synthesized. The Vitamin D3 supplements can help in this. Once the body gets Vitami D3 supplement, body can convert it to an active/useful form of Vitamin D.
There are also other food sources of Vitamin D such as Lichen, cod liver oil, salmon, egg yolk.
