I’ll preface this by saying I’ve used and enjoyed many brands of kava. I use an Aluball, cold water, and shaker if it matters.
This is my third time getting this variety from this brand. The quality has dropped A TON.
It is visually much more course, dark, tastes terrible, and is weak. Very very bad quality, not even just for the price. Terrible value.
On top of that it died out literally my entire body after 3 days of use and gave me terrible various rashes and feel utterly sick. Who knows what the heck is in this, from my research it appears to be heavy metal poisoning.
I’ve attached photos. The ones I can show anyway. It even dried it my privates to the point of peeling, after just three days. My hands went from beautiful to paper thin and wrinkly. I am devastated by how unhealthy this made my body in such a short time.
Immediately stopped use when symptoms appeared. I will never buy Kava again after this experience. Just not worth it. I’m an experienced user, and this particular batch is poison and I refuse to risk it ever again.
Unless you want full body rashes, dry skin, the hands of a seventy year old, and peeling bright red private parts STAY FAR AWAY.
I want my money back and an apology for their poor quality control and complete lack of care for their customers health. I cannot stress enough that I have used kava successfully for over a year. Even this brand used to be the cleanest/best I’d found.
This batch is different. Do not risk it.

This is my go to brand of kava, I’ve tried other brands but this is my favorite by far!! The quality of the product is consistent bag after bag! My favorite type of kava is this Pouni Ono as it is great for day time use and doesn’t promote drowsiness! Mild flavor as well.

For the longest time I was only ordering from a few trusted kava vendors that I always hear about. The effects from my usual Tongan were becoming pretty hit or miss for me. I thought I’d give Koa Kava a try after seeing it recommended on a few threads. I am so pleased with this product. It’s become my new favorite. Just the headiness I was looking for, and doesn’t leave that quesy feeling I started to frequently get with the other kavas I’d use. I don’t leave a ton of reviews but really wanted to with this one!! So so happy with the product. The taste is a lot more bearable than most other kavas I’ve tried, effects “kick in” fairly quickly and seem to linger nicely for a few hours. Truly eases my anxiety and just allows me to be happy and present. I’ve prepped traditionally and in the blender. I think with traditional prep, kneading for about 7 minutes has been perfect for me. Absolutely loving this new kava. I’ve actually placed a 3rd order since trying it a few weeks back. Wish they had a 1lb offer on Amazon. Oh yes, and you can’t beat the 1-2 day shipping that is available!! Thanks Koa Kava…I’m so grateful to have found you.

After reading the reviews, I was really looking forward to trying this kava and it was a plus that it comes in a 1kg bag as I drink it often. After ordering, I received an empty package from Amazon and had to be refunded, but I didn’t take any stars off for this as I don’t know that it’s the kava companies fault or Amazon’s. This has never happened to me before with anything else so it was odd. My next order was shipped quickly and I received it the next day.
When the kava arrived it seemed generally normal, but the grind seemed a bit coarser than other brands and there was a fair bit of plant matter unground in the bag. We prepared it the same way we always do (mesh strainer, hot water) and the color turned out browner and muddier than what I am used to with Fijian kavas. The taste of this kava has quite a funk, I can’t explain it but it’s not as smooth as Fijian Waka and I found it difficult but not impossible to stomach. As far as effects go, I found this Tongan kava to be milder than the Fijian kava I normally purchase.
All in all, I can’t give it a bad review as this is my first try with Tongan kava, and the bag remains in my cabinet for later use… I just have it tucked behind my go-to bag of Fijian kava. If you are a beginner I wouldn’t recommend this kava, definitely go for something milder. But if you are a seasoned kava drinker this is a nice addition to have on hand for daytime and in such a large quantity, it will last a while.

Edit: Last couple times I received this kava it didn’t give me the uplifting effect it once did when I first tried it. For instance the last kilo I purchased was more of a balanced Tongan rather than Heady like Pouni Onos usually are. Now I see the price has went up. As well as seeing more and more bad reviews. Whoever’s making the decisions for this company and running the quality control to verify the supplier is sending them kava like they once supplied is hurting the company and dropping the ball. The price point and quality they once offered was why I bought the kava. It’s a shame that price has went up and quality or consistency has went down. I hope things go back to how they where. Until then I’ll stick to my main supplier on Amazon whos family also runs the farm back in Fiji of the kava they distribute and sale in The US..
Original review: Good heady daytime kava. One of the better daytime Kavas on Amazon. Just wish it was a bit cheaper. But have seen all vendors go up a little. Even the cheaper American vendors over the last year or two unfortunately.
