I’m a girl who has struggled with hair loss since I was a teenager. I’m now 33 years old and and 3 months ago I was debating shaving my hair off because I was starting to look like the crypt keeper.

Losing 70 percent of my hearing has been a real bummer for me. But it started when I was about 55 years old and is hereditary in our family. Advances in hearing aids have been beneficial but my hearing loss is expected to continue as I age.

I love this 5mg dose of Methylfolate. 1mg usually lasts me about 4h-8h (dependant on stress & mood levels) and 5mg is able to last me a full day (about 20h-24h and sometimes even longer).
It’s a really convenient dosage because I just need to take 1 pill once a day, instead of having to carry around several 1mg pills so I can pop them every 8 hours. I prefer the 5mg dosage over the 1mg dosage. Very, very convenient!

I take this for an MTHFR gene mutation. The prescription for generic Deplin was $65 (with great insurance!) so it makes more sense to just buy this over the counter. I take 3 pills a day to equal 15g. Works well for folate deficiency, lowering homocysteine, and treatment resistant depression. The pills are small, uncoated, and dissolve very fast in your mouth. My only complaint with this product is the packaging waste. As you can see in the photo I’ve uploaded, 30 pills doesn’t even cover the bottom of the bottle. I bought four bottles at a time so I poured all the pills into one. Make smaller bottles and/or increase the amount of pills per bottle!

I have been struggling with cardio vascular disease and arteriosclerosis in the last couple of years and my homocysteine level – a marker for additional future problems in those areas – has been very high. When I added this and a mega dose of B12 into my daily routine my homocysteine levels have been cut in half and are still dropping. I have had no detectable side effects. PLEASE DO NOT take my experience as anything more than one guy’s trial from personal research. I am neither a doctor nor do I play one on TV. Again, PLEASE DO NOT take this as any type of medical advice. Consult with your physician before doing anything like this. If they tell you that folate may help you with whatever it may be that ails you this is a great brand that has worked exceedingly well for me. Small pill, easy to swallow and, for me, did all that I hoped it would. I actually use several of the Life Extension products and have been very happy with them all so far. Not the cheapest of the ones available but, IMHO, you get what you pay for.

This product saved me! I have the genetic mutation that makes me unable to metabolize folic acid, and because of it I have a number of health issues not the least of which is a congenital neural tube defect. Some years ago, my doctor prescribed Deplin 15 mg. From the first dose my life changed drastically. Many of my health issues have greatly improved, particularly my depression, anxiety, and anger issues. I don’t even need an antidepressant, just Metafolin, the active ingredient in Deplin and Life Extension Optimized Folate. I will never go another day without my Metafolin!
Deplin isn’t covered by insurance because it’s not FDA approved. (yet?) 90 doses of Deplin costs almost $180. Add to that the fact that my doctor is “too busy” (WTF?) to see me for my yearly physical, and he won’t renew my prescription without seeing me. Knowing I’d run out of Deplin well before he could finally get me in, I began scouring the internet for a Metafolin tablet in a large enough dose that I didn’t have to take half a bottle of pills to get my daily 15 mg. Enter Life Extension, at about half the price of Deplin. I don’t at all mind taking three tabs a day. If anything, I feel even better on Life Extension than I do on Deplin. To hell with my doctor! I am, and forever shall be a loyal Life Extension customer.
