The idea is good. But the spray nozzle thingy does not aim right toward the back of the throat. First of all, when trying, put your tongue down and make as much space as possible so you have a better chance at aiming back there. If you miss, you can’t just keep spraying and spraying because you’re not supposed to swallow this… You can’t have too much of it due to the dosage. You have to spit it out after you swish it around in your mouth. You can swish with or without water… It’s weird. It’s a weird concept and the reason I do not recommend it is because you do have to spit it out. If I could swallow it and have the numbing relief, it’d be awesome.
The numbing only happened on my tongue or part of my gums or mouth skin that got the poorly aimed spray. Swishing it around was hard because I was so panicked that I’d accidentally swallow it. I timed myself and swished for the recommended time. The numbing only lasted a few minutes in the area of the skin that it actually touched before swishing. I tried to send it back but it’s not returnable. I did receive a refund, though. I had to chat with customer service though.

It works, but I am rating this product a 3 out of 5 because the menthol is far too overpowering and I wish it would spray more as a stream to hit the back of my sore throat rather than a mist that gets everywhere.
TASTE: awful… it’s nothing like the complementary Mucinex throat lozenges. the menthol is far too overpowering, and it tastes like the old artificial cherry flavor cough syrup from back in the 90s. it also leave a bit of a chemical-like after taste.
SPRAY: impractical… it comes out more as a mist than a stream, so targeting the back of a sore throat is quite difficult. i’ve use other brands in the past that have basically shot straight to the back of the throat, which is helpful.
EFFECTIVENESS: it certainly works… although the flavor is trash, the product absolutely does what it’s designed to do. it’s reminiscent of an Orajel-like numbing feeling, which lasts for about 10-15 minutes.
COST: really fair pricing… I also appreciate how it qualified for FSA/HSA.
In short, for folks who like menthol, this is probably a perfect solution. For me, the amount of menthol is off-putting, so I would not buy this product again.

Works well when you get it in the right place. Just a little hard to spray in the right direction, user error.

I have THE world’s strongest gag reflex, making flossing my back teeth impossible. It’s so bad I can’t even handle wearing whitening trays or even strips. But, I’ve been trying to take better care of my teeth/gums. At the dentist, they use a numbing gel on my soft palate to help make it thru a cleaning, and suggested an OTC benzocaine gel. The only problem is that applying the gel is, itself, a trigger, so I can’t do it myself. So, I started looking to throat sprays. This was the only affordable non prescription benzocaine containing spray I could find.
When first applied, it is pretty powerfully numbing. Really similar to that mildly unpleasant puffy tingly feeling you get from the anesthetics used for fillings. It doesn’t 100% stop my gag reflex. But it does make it significantly better, better enough to floss all my teeth. The super intense initial feeling goes away within just a couple minutes. Which, for my purpose, is a good thing. For another good half hour i still feel a little bit of numbing but without any of the unpleasant feelings. Probably enough that I would have adequate pain relief, if I had pain. Probably lasts long enough that I’d be able to get thru eating a quick meal if pain was interfering with eating/talking.
The taste is… not pleasant at all. but it’s just for a few seconds.
Very good value, it’s a huge bottle and you can only use 4 sprays per day. I wouldn’t use this for a minor throat pain/irritation, dry scratchy throat, it’s just too intense and short lived. But it’s good to have on hand in case of that rare super intense sore throat or canker sore. And, of course, in my situation I’ll be using it pretty frequently.

goes, it has the most POWERFUL numbing of ANYTHING I have ever tried. Hands down, ear infections, sinus infections, sore throat from pretty much ANYTHING I think, and this is your stuff!! If……. that is, you can get past the terrible taste. It is NOT a cherry I have ever tasted for certain, but ….. it works!! I guess if medicine were meant to taste good, we would call it candy right? I think this is something we may need to get back to! As a kid, EVERYTHING “medicine” tasted so horrible!! But how many kids were rushed to the ER for “OD’ing” on vitamins or medicines back then? Campho phenique! Some of the (still) best stuff on the market for curing bitten lips, bitten tongues, or small oral wounds. But there’s so many “other” things out there now, that I hadn’t used it for decades until recently. I had forgotten what a wonder cure it was! Even on “Skeeter, bug, and spider bites! Mucinex did some fantastic stuff in this product. I originally began this review, only BECAUSE of the horrible taste. But after considering the above info, it gets ALLLL my Stars!! It’s really just THAT magnificent!
I can use cherry flavored Chloraseptic every 5 minutes sometimes, as the taste is GREAT…. but …. it truly just doesn’t work well enough. NOT TRUE with THIS STUFF! Not only did it CURE my sore throat during COVID, but it helped with the SEVERE pressure and pain in my ear and sinuses. It’s THAT GREAT!! And now I just pray that the cost doesn’t skyrocket, or they pull it OFF the market, because the Pharm Company see’s more $$$ signs…….
