After right hip replacement surgery I purchased two of these gel packs and immediately started icing my hip as much as possible. They are very well made, contoured to fit the hip area and have long and strong velcro strapping to hold them in place securely. Having two allows me to rotate them in and out of the freezer as needed to provide a longer continuous icing time. I didn’t find them to be too stiff to wear right after taking out of the freezer. Along with this elevation cushion— LightEase Memory Foam Leg Support and Elevation Pillow w/Dual Handles for Surgery, Injury, or Rest— these ice packs have been invaluable for my recovery.
BAILEIGH –
Just received this and so far so good. This ice pack is a good size and covers the entire hip area. Wraps around the front/side/back of the hip nicely and over the glute area. I’m a size 8 lady – 5 ft 3 and I wouldn’t want it any bigger. Ajustdble straps are fairly comfortable. Plenty cold after 2 hours in the freezer. 10 minutes on each hip was plenty of time for a treatment.

Update: I stand by my original comments but I increased to 3 stars and kept the product because it turns out it was the only full leg ice pack option. I am making a cover with straps for it to make it easier to apply
The product did not come with any straps. The full leg ice pack is heavy and awkward to secure with my ace bandage. Pack is too cold for bare skin so you need to use a dish towel or similar for protection. Lastly, the gel migrates and ended up with a very heavy lower portion. Need to be sure to rework the gel evenly before freezing. I will be returning this product.

Great product. I bought 2. Just leaving them in the fridge for a few hours gives you long lasting cool legs.
I put them in the bed an hour before sleep. They keep me cool all night. The cover is wipeable, and the product is certainly of very high quality.
BAILEIGH –
After sitting in the freezer for a few days, this was not at all pliable and difficult to put on. It needs to soften or it can be uncomfortable. I fractured my hip and the other ice packs and frozen peas just were not convenient like this. I wrap a kitchen towel over both sides to absorb the drips it creates. The kitchen towels are the perfect size. Make sure the fold faces down or this will drip on your upholstered seating. Ice pack stays cold a very long time and was still frozen after over 30 minutes. I love that I have mobility while using this. I plan to use it on my back next. It is, however, the perfect ice pack for a sore hip. There is ample length on the strap for comfortable adjustment. I also like the fact I don’t have to constantly fill a bag with crushed ice over and over again. This ice pack can be frozen again for about an hour and is ready to use right away after initial use. It only needs to sit out after a day or so in the freezer to soften. This is so convenient that I believe I will find many other uses.

It is hard to find a cold pack that actually conforms to the shape of your hip and stays on when you attach it. I hear people complain that the strap that goes around the leg is too small, but I certainly don’t have any issues with that. Lots of strap left over And also plenty of strap that goes around the waist. This is not gonna fit some big huge person or even a regular sized man. I don’t think. I am petite and weigh 114 pounds so that is a reference. It’s not an issue.

Large coverage & strap to secure, gets extremely cold but is very hard & stiff right out of the freezer, unlike other ice packs that are pliable. It must be left out to defrost a bit before shaping to body.

I bought this product right when I was suffering from shin splints from running on pavement too much, and I was pleasantly surprised at how fast they went away after using this Magic Gel shin splint recovery kit.
It comes with a cryoball, magic gel packs, a resistance band, and an easy instruction manual, and after following it to a tee my shin splints were gone. The cryoball is great for identifying shin splint pain and using it to work it out and then placing the magic gel packs on my shins. They get really cold really fast in the freezer; the directions suggest not using them on your legs for longer than 20 minutes and I could barely handle five (ten minutes was the perfect time for me). I also suggest placing a towel or a barrier between your shins and the magic gel packs to prevent freezer burn (not like what the picture shows in the instruction manual). I actually prefer heating them up rather than using them cold, and instructions are printed directly on the gel packs about how to safely warm them up rather than cool them.
The Magic Gel packs are easy to fasten and flexible so that you can use them for other sore joints or muscles (as was the case when my thighs were burning after riding powder the first days of snowboarding for the season- heating the pack and wrapping it around my lead leg really helped ease the soreness).
It’s also nice that this includes a resistance band and associated stretches to use to help strengthen your legs. I believe that this all-in-one recovery package is something that every athlete should have in their arsenal, and I also like supporting family-owned businesses.
