Doctor Gangreene –
Levocetrizine is the active ingredient in Xyzal and is functionally similar to cetrizine (the active ingredient in Zyrtec), this is the generic version without the big brand name so it’s a little cheaper. I have really bad allergies all through Spring and Summer, and less severe in the Fall. Pollen, pet dander, dust, hay fever… the usual culprits. There are some days when it’s not so bad – just itchy dry eyes and some snot problems – and on days like that I usually turn to Claritin (loratadine) instead of this one just because it gives me less side effects, but the levocetrizine seems to be a little more effective for medium to bad allergy days. But on other days it just isn’t strong enough so I have to turn to something else like diphenhydramine (Benadryl) on the really bad allergy days. Everyone’s immune system is a little different, if one antihistamine doesn’t do the job for you then try another one. I’ve had allergies for many years so I’ve done my trial and error and I find this to be my preferred routine:
Claritin (lorataidine) for mild allergies.
Levocetrizine (Xyzal – THIS one) for medium allergies.
Benadryl (diphenhydramine) for really bad allergies.
This one does come with some side effects for most people, which is why I don’t usually take it on days when my allergies are pretty mild. For me there can be some mild dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and even a bit of a headache. If I go for a few days in a row on it I sometimes get digestive problems, too. But as long as I rotate my antihistimines and only take it for a couple of days, then switch to another one, then another one… then usually the side effects are pretty mild. (I have three different ones that I rotate to avoid the bad side effects.) But ask your doctor before you start mixing antihistamines.
This is the over the counter strength, for anything stronger you need a prescription. Like any medication, read the label before you start taking it. Antihistamines mess with your immune system (albeit temporarily) and may cause a wide range of weird side effects in rare cases – some of them very serious. When in doubt, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

This works as well as the name brand products I’ve used in the past. Great product for a great price!
Willow –
I started taking the name brand of this shortly after it came over the counter. I like it, but even the store brands are expensive. I found this and gave it a try. To me, it works just as well but at a fraction of the price. The tablets are scored if you want to take half, you can easily snap them apart. Came with a nice, long expiration date. Great find here!

No side affects cause it’s all natural. Surprised it helped so well. Little expensive, arrived on time. Tastes good.

Excellent price, good value. Works well. Take it at night if you’re concerned about drowsiness. Does not seem to make me sleepy and doesn’t affect the quality of my sleep.
