I love Mustela products and was excited to try this massage balm. It does leave skin feeling a lot softer, but that’s only after it takes a good hour or so to absorb. Even on dry skin, this balm takes its sweet time. I can’t imagine applying this to an infant – I’d be too afraid to drop them due to super slippery skin!
As this product melts with body heat, it doesn’t take as much as you’d think to cover a large area. This little jar will last quite awhile, so even at a higher price point you still get your money’s worth. The balm is clear and barely scented – two factors I appreciate. Mustela products are wonderful for sensitive skin or those who just don’t want a lot of unnecessary ingredients in their skincare for themselves or their children. After a few uses, I ended up mixing this balm (which is more like hair gel) 50/50 with my Ahava body lotion. It doesn’t take as long this way for the balm to absorb, and it boosts the hydrating ability of the lotion. With winter coming up, this balm makes an excellent foot and hand treatment. Apply at night before bed, put on socks to protect your sheets (and not slip on a bare floor), and slip on a pair of cotton gloves.

This is a very unusual balm in that it’s clear and has a jelly-like consistency. But once you dip into it it feels greasy but good. The scent is absolutely heavenly and light. I’m very particular about scents and usually prefer no scents, but I’ll easily make an exception for this one. I think this is an excellent moisturizer whether used on a baby or one yourself. I’m not sure about the “melting” aspect of it since it basically gets smeared on like any other moisturizer but I think it’s very good quality.

I ordered this for my granddaughter and it arrived quickly and well packaged. I decided to use it on her a few days ago about half an hour before giving her a bath. The product was easy to apply and had a nice and light but still lovely smell to it. I actually found it quite moisturizing on my own hands, which I know isn’t the point, but still an added benefit! My granddaughter did not seem perturbed by this product as far as the way it felt as I applied it to her body, she actually seemed to enjoy the relaxing massage and it almost seemed to calm her down. Overall, I’m quite pleased with this product and am glad I ordered it!

I have been giving my toddler little massages before bed to help relax him so he drifts off to sleep sooner and I can have more time to myself, you know, to clean my house and make lunches.
My toddler was really excited to use this. It is an interesting texture and consistency, definitely a little on the greasy side but at least its easier to control than something like an oil.
It has a bit of a scent to it, my toddler called it something weird, like “grocery store”, or something like that but I can’t remember exactly.
I do wish that it didn’t come in a jar but a sort of pump bottle because I know this is going to end up getting messy somehow.

I tried this on some dry skin before ever trying it on the baby. This really has no detectable odor to speak of. The texture appears at first to be similar to petroleum jelly but it’s stiffer. It takes a good while to absorb and that’s after it finally becomes fluid enough to rub into your skin. Before this, it just about pulls your skin as you try to rub it in. I was expecting something totally different, especially when it’s geared for baby massages. It is quite pricey too.

This stuff is pretty amazing. It is a small jar that is a bit pricey but it doesn’t take much for a baby, and a little of this goes a long way. I use it on my husband’s legs because he has some issues with pain and can’t sleep at night when his legs ache. I spread a little (maybe a dime-sized amount) of this on each leg/foot and give him a pretty firm massage with a massage gun, followed by a rubdown with my hands. I never have to reapply, and it makes his skin smooth so that the gun slides right over it. Unlike oils, there’s no mess with this balm. It feels amazing and really works. It doesn’t stain my sheets, and it doesn’t aggravate my own (eczema-prone) skin. It leaves your skin very moist, as well, but doesn’t feel sticky.
This is pretty great stuff, and I highly recommend it. There is no discernable fragrance, and it doesn’t aggravate my eczema. I can’t ask for more.

Mustela Baby Massage Balm comes in a small jar. It is delicately scented – it faint and non offensive. Texture is more of the gel than balm.
It is paraben and phthalates free, so it is safe for anyone’s skin – from babies to adults. It contains sunflower and avocado oil.
It goes on easily when applied, spreads easily, and is good for massage. It does moisturize but it takes quite a time to absorb.
Since it is made is France, per EU rules, expiration date must be listed – unlike on US made products.
Overall, it is a nice product, but on expensive side.
