This is the best diaper rash cream I’ve used yet! We need the 40% zinc to keep my LO rash free, but with some other brands the consistency was too liquidy and did not work as well. This was perfect! It’s a little pricey, but well worth it to use an effective, high- quality, safe and cruelty-free product.

I was a fan of Dr Smiths diaper cream for my first 4 children…THEN number 5 was born with skin so sensitive that EVERYTHING seems to irritate it(Vaseline makes this kid break out in bleeding blisters). So no more Dr Smith, but shes still a baby, she still gets diaper rash on occasion, now what? I was using coconut oil, but it didnt heal overly well, but it was something…and made me feel like I was doing SOMETHING for her instead of watching her suffer. We had tried prescription creams, they were too harsh and were often petroleum based and made her bleed, nothing worked.

I decided to give this a try, hoping it wouldnt make her rashes worse like the Dr Smiths did(imagine applying a healing cream only to make the rash 10x worse-awful feeling for mom). I was cautiously optimistic.

IT WORKS and the babies love it!!! When using Dr Smiths, my kiddos would squirm, I always assumed it was just because I was touching and rubbing a sore spot, cream or no. HOWEVER, I have now determined this to be incorrect, when using the Burts Bees diaper cream, they go still and seem to experience relief immediately…omg, what a difference!!! Not only do they experience immediate relief, the rash disappears so fast(often by the time of the next diaper change), rashes that would take 1-3days to heal with other creams were gone in a few hours!!!

It also works for my ultra sensitive skin girl, so we have switched from a 13yr loyalty to Dr Smiths and now only use burts bees diaper ointment, I would never go back to any other product!!! I use it for the 1 and 2yr olds in diapers and the 3yr old who wears pullups at night and is an occasional yeast rash sufferer.

Edit: We had a bbq this week and a flare up caused blistering burns all over my husbands face and arms. The ER was concerned with discoloration, I told him not to worry, I applied this cream to his face, neck, and arms each night and within 3days there was no more fear of discoloration, his burns were healing nicely and his face was not discolored(and it healed much faster than the 2-4wks the doctor stated).

As I’ve mentioned in other reviews, our family typically loves Burt’s Bees products, and that has definitely extended to the baby products. Our little one does not have really sensitive skin in general, but her diaper area seems to be a little more delicate. We had been using Boudreaux’s Butt Paste on the few occasions her bottom was red, and it worked great. But when she got a pretty bad rash while teething, we noticed the Butt Paste made things WORSE. I happened to have some Burt’s Bees Diaper Ointment from a gift set I was given, so I tried it because my poor baby was obviously hurting and miserable….MIRACLE! The rash resolved super fast, and she stopped being upset when I needed to change her. Now this is our go-to diaper ointment.

Things to note: It smells lightly of lavender (and maybe vanilla?) like the calming lotion and wash, but it is much much less strong smelling than those. It also isn’t a single consistency…it has some liquid and some chunks in addition to the creamy ointment (at least our tube did)…I don’t mind it at all, but if you think that’s not good, then this may not be the ointment for you. The chunks spread as you spread the ointment on, so they don’t stay clumpy unless you leave them.

I love this cream. My fingers hate them. But my baby rules.

Before I discovered BB’s I was a firm believer of Triple Paste and Bordeaux Butt Paste. Since discovering this product, I am sticking with it. It is petrochemical free (both TP and Broudeaux has petrolatum – in fact, TP’s main ingredient is petrolatum). It is also paraben free which IMHO should be completely banned especially from baby products (check out the ingredients on Destitin and other major brands).

This cream rocks because it smells good but most of all, it is both emollient and comes on thickly at the same time. This is how a good diaper rash cream should work — it should be thick enough where it acts as a real difficult-to-liquify protective barrier to pee and poop – the third ingredient in this cream is beeswax and that’s probably why. My trouble with alot of the creams out there is it is so easy to wipe off with liquid. That includes Broudeaux. yet it is emollient enough where I can glide it on easily – the first ingredient is Almond Oil.

This cream is also Zinc Oxide heavy – it is the 2nd ingredient. Zinc Oxide is antibacterial and does not absorb into skin. Other ingredients include jojoba seed oil, lavendar oil, calendula oil – all calming and soothing to the skin. It seems to be preserved with Vitamin E (tocopherol).

But my right index finger is perpetually white! Mainly because it is such a firm and strong protective barrier getting it off the crevices of my finger whorls and wrinkles is quite hard.

I go through a 3oz tube in a month typically and each use requires only a pea size dollop since it is so nice and thick. Worth EVERY penny.
