Sambucus is black elderberry, which has been used in Europe for centuries as a winter tonic. These lozenges are very tasty, and it’s NO PROBLEM to remember to take one every day. This excellent product helps to boost your immune system. The syrup that is also available in two formulas, as one is for diabetics, does an excellent detox of the germs that have found their way to your system. The lozenge can be taken once a day or twice a day. In acute need, up to four tablets can be taken. These should not be swallowed but dissolved in the mouth. Since I’ve been taking these lozenges and the diluted syrup, I’ve not had a cold or other respiratory infection. Any time I hear friends who say, “I’ve been trying OTC remedies, but they’re not working. I need to see a doctor for a prescription.” I suggest they try the sambucus products that are readily available in health food stores, and I almost always hear, “I’ll check those out. Thanks for telling me about it.”
I have this product on order through Amazon.com on a subscription basis. This saves my having to shop each month for prices on the Internet, and it comes postage paid.
Note: I have noticed that if I’ve taken too much sambucus, the inside lining of my mouth will become a bit sensitive. Then I don’t take the lozenge or the diluted syrup for a day, and the next day I’m fine.

I repeatedly get this product because it is a good chewable, fairly priced, and doesn’t affect my husband’s blood sugar. We have used it for years!

These lozenges are delicious and absolutely do help with cold and flu-like symptoms. I always buy a bag for my grown sons, too, and share them with my grandchildren when they get the sniffles. One son, who dealt with Hodgkins Lymphoma two years ago, finds them very helpful for his respiratory symptoms that linger after chemo. I love these things. I found an article on WebMD that presents the medical research that elderberry helps reduce flu symptoms. The zinc is a plus for cold symptoms and other things, as far as I’m concerned. This particular brand with the zinc is my favorite of the elderberry products.

You will need to eat this supplement at home, when you are going to be by yourself for awhile. Leaves tongue/mouth purple for an hour/lol, so you obviously cannot take it and then go off to work, unless you like the appearance of the little kid fruit punch/grape tongue. lol – I giggle about it.

A friend referred this to me, and I was initially skeptical, but she said that her son’s college health center was recommending it, so I looked into it further.
First off, I found that there had been actual legit studies done on it—studies that were:
Placebo controlled (some people got the Elderberry, some got a placebo, or “fake” medicine).
Double blind (neither the patients nor the doctors knew who got the placebo and who got the actual Elderberry, so neither the doctors nor the patients could influence the findings).
Randomized (people who got the placebo versus the Elderberry were selected at random).
Peer reviewed (results examined by other doctors and scientists).
Replicated (when other scientists tried the same experiment, they got the same results).
The studies showed that Elderberry actually killed cold viruses. Literally you would have fewer of the virus in your system, in your throat, in your nasal passages, etc. Also Elderberry is super high in antioxidants—one of the highest sources available in anything.
What I found for myself was two things.
First, while it’s obviously difficult to tell how long the cold would have lasted without taking Black Elderberry, it DOES seem that a cold only lasts for about 4 days instead of a week, which is how long a cold normally lasts for me.
Second, when I take the Elderberry, I can vouch for the fact that it DOES make you feel better very shortly after taking it. I find that if I have a fever it will break, and the achiness from the cold/flu goes away for a few hours, and that “Blah” feeling goes away too. You just don’t feel sick. So there is IMMEDIATE relief, not just a shortening of the duration of the cold. Even if it didn’t decrease the number of days that you are sick, it would totally be worth getting JUST because it makes the horrible cold or flu symptoms go away! You feel more able to function, to work, etc. It also helps you sleep when you don’t feel so awful.
Third, if I take it when there is just the very faint beginning of cold symptoms, it seems like the cold stays very mild and is gone completely within a couple days (like maybe the Elderberry kills the viruses before it can really take hold?)
I have tried several types of the Elderberry, including the pills and the chewable gummies, but the Lozenges and the Quick Dissolve Tablets are my favorites because:
I feel like dissolving them in my mouth and having be swallowed down my throat, puts the Elderberry right where it can actually affect the cold viruses.
It tastes good—really good, in fact. It’s like a yummy grape flavored sweet tart!
No need for water or to have to swallow a big pill when you have a sore throat.

For at least ten years, probably longer, I have used Sambucus to help alleviate and reduce the duration of illnesses. When used in the initial hours or day of sickness, this product is especially effective.
I typically use the syrup form of this product but when traveling — and I always pack some when I travel — I take the lozenges with me since they don’t leak. The lozenges are easy to take but the flavor has much to be desired.
I personally only use this when becoming ill or if I have been in an environment that could easily lead to sickness (like being trapped on a plane with multiple individuals that are sniffing and coughing). When I am placed in a situation that I feel I need to take the product, I always follow the instructions for intensive use. I have experienced great results using Sambucus and always have a bottle in my house. I’ve recommended it to many individuals and they, too, have had positive experiences.
This product is recommended.
