This is a great cleanser for my acne-prone, sensitive skin. It cleans the skin effectively and great for acne. I find that my skin is clearer and any active breakouts heal faster when using this compared to any other cleanser I’ve tried (and I’ve tried a lot). Despite being sulfate-free, this cleanser produces a nice lather.
A little amount of product goes a long way with this so it is a great value. I purchased this on January 5th, 2017 and as of March 5th, 2017, I still have about half of the bottle left. My only gripe with this cleanser is that it is a bit drying. My face feels quite tight after using it. This is why I am not giving it a five star review. .
I use this in combination with either a silicone face pad (such as this one Facial Cleansing Pads, Magift Soft Silicone Face Scrubbers Exfoliators, Perfect For Massage Washing Pore Cleanser Blackhead Remover and Baby Shower, Hand Hold Easy To Use, Pack of 2) or a konjac sponge (I recommend this pack of sponges to use with it: PIXNOR Konjac Sponge All Natural Facial Body Sponges with Activated Bamboo Charcoal – 3 Pack.
Overall, I highly recommend this product and I will be repurchasing when I run out.

I cannot say enough good things about this face wash. I’ve been using it for years now. Prior to this I was using a $60 face wash sold by a pharmaceutical company that I got through my dermatologist. Everything else I have ever used makes me break out! And I have literally tried so many things! I love that this is not only cheaper but also significantly cleaner as far as ingredients go. I use the Oil Free Purifying Face Moisturizer as well and cannot say enough good things about it either. I have been using it for about 7 years. Prior to it I broke out from my college years until I finally found it. Now my skin is clear and gorgeous and I only use these two products.
The face wash cleans away my heavy duty sweatproof mascara and eyeliner as well as any eye makeup remover. It also cleans without drying out my face the way most anti-acne washes do. The accompanying moisturizer also balances and restores the proper ph levels to my face.

I have always been blessed with good skin, lucky me. However, after just celebrating my 40th birthday, I think my good genes are in need of some help. I’m new to having any sort of skin care routine other than washing with whatever soap is handy and using a moisturizer.
My face is pretty dry and gets flaky. I don’t think I really have “dry skin” but it’s a lack of proper care on my part. ((Please read Laziness.)) This is a pretty basic, non foaming, cleanser. It’s not an exfoliation product, but you don’t want that in a daily face wash anyway. What I can tell you is that so far, I really like it. The product is black from the charcoal and that was a little jarring at first. But it’s very light and has no real fragrance. It doesn’t take much product, and my face feels really clean after use. I also have none of the tightness or flaky skin even after just a few weeks of use and I’m still using the same moisturizer as I did before.
Overall, I’m happy with my purchase, would recommend and will purchase again.

I love the way this stuff feels. It is very tingly but in a really good way. It is liquidy and black in color because of the activated charcoal. I use a really soft brush head with my soniclear and it doesnt discolor the brush at all so there is no need to worry about that if youre using a brush on your face like me. If you’ve tried the purifying algae toner by derma-e you know the kind of tingle im talking about. its similar but in a face wash. its excellent. i really love how this make my face feel even long after i pat dry. i just feel refreshed and clean. my skin looks and feels hydrated, soft and supple.

I purchased this cleanser to use as my second step cleanser after oil-cleansing. ( I make my own blend with hemp seed oil and tea tree) I usually shy away from any skincare containing activated charcoal because I find it to be a little too intense of a detoxifier for my skin (combination with very small pores that are ridiculously easy to clog) but I thought it would be efficient at pulling all the oil cleanser out. Also, I’m newly obsessed with algae or more specifically, bladderwrack in skincare…. And this has that … and aloe…. LOVE!!!
The reviews aren’t particularly amazing for this product but I’m really happy with this cleanser. I enjoy other Derma-e products, the scent of this isn’t the greatest but it lathers enough with about a dime size dollop.
I would really like to emphasize that this cleanser does an amazing job at removing all the oil cleanser from my skin WITHOUT making it look dry or Feel tight!! It takes out all the bad and puts good back in!!! My skin is so happy!! This checks all my boxes! Will purchase from amazon again cuz yeah what is it, $8.00? Can’t beat it!

The consistency of this cleanser is so runny/watery. I would never use this to remove my makeup alone. Maybe as a second cleanser after removing makeup. I’m inclined to think that charcoal is more effective in a thicker mask (not cleanser) form for its ability to detox/draw out impurities to be fully realized. My experience with this cleanser supported that. I’m glad it is working for some, but I could really take it or leave it. While it didn’t strip my skin, it did not calm it/reduce inflammation/redness or help to improve acne.
