This is a new supplement for me – I read that inulin helps feed (ie is a prebiotic) akkermansia gut bacteria, which I want to increase for fat loss and better gut health. I expected a little measuring spoon and while trying to find said tiny scoop, I wasted some of the powder which is all too happy to go airborn, flying up my nose and all over my shirt and the floor. This happened when I used my hand to dig Cracker-Jack style, when I used a big spoon to dig to the bottom and when I used a butterknife. I was sure there was a very shy tiny scoop in there somewhere. Finally I poured the remaining powder gently into a small lidded container and actually read the bag to find out the dose is simply a teaspoon. Then I told my family THIS IS NOT CREAMER OR SWEETENER and put it in an awkward place in the fridge to avoid accidental dosing (refrigeration not needed, but my family can’t find anything in the fridge even when they want to. ) I started slow with the inulin and am thankful I did – we are talking about putting something in there that’s going to upset the balance of things (in a good way) but that always seems to start with an upset that feels quite unwell. I believe this is doing what it’s supposed to do and sugar cravings are less, jeans are looser. Wahoo! Just remember to START SLOW!! 🙂

Best deal for the quantity that I could find. I have also been very happy with other Bulk Supplements products as far a quality is concerned. I noticed I started losing a little weight when I started taking this along with my standard probiotic and lactobacillus gasseri. Taste is slightly sweet and it really doesn’t clump too much. I add about a tablespoon of it to my tea in the morning, and my Sleepy Time tea in the evening. Initially does give you gas, but that is because it is just killing off bad gut bacteria. If you continue to eat pretty clean (not much sugar and junk) eventually the gas does go away. I think the best benefit of this stuff though is that for some reason when taking it I sleep so much better. I finally realized that probiotics really need prebiotics in order to work properly.

Bought this as a probiotic to help improve my gut microbiome. The product is a white tasteless powder that dissolves easily in water or other aqueous liquids. There is no perceptible taste or texture in juice, smoothies or most things I mix it with. I’ve only been using it for a couple weeks, so the health benefits are not established yet, though there is evidence it is indeed feeding the bugs in my gut. The only negative is with the packaging. The resealable zip strip isn’t. Whether it is the fine powder clogging it or simply an inferior design, it is very difficult to reseal the package. I have had the same problem with other products fro Bulksupplements, so I assume it is the design of the seal strip. Hopefully they will find another packaging with a more reliable seal in the near future.

I really like this product – it contains nothing but inulin; it appears, tastes, dissolves, and works for me just as well as my previous brand; and it’s far more economical to buy. I will definitely buy it again when I run out, although that will take awhile. Some reviewers are thrown by the difficulty keeping the seal clear of powder, and/or the fact that it doesn’t come with a scoop. The seal doesn’t bother me because I transfer smaller amounts to another container for daily use, and keep the large, difficult to seal bag in an even larger, easy-to-seal plastic bag. (I would warn users that the powder is very light and fluffy, and easy to spill when first opened or while transferring to another container. But it’s doable.) As for the spoon, doses are measured by standard measuring spoons, so you don’t really need a special scoop.

This inulin product is one of the best I have tried. It is readily soluble whereas some form a glue when added to water. I would buy this again.

No additives, fillers, sugars, etc. Just clean and simple fiber. Effective and dissolves well in water

I was trying to make L. Reuteri cultured milk, which famously takes 36 hours to ferment. Imagine my surprise when my jars were popping off and separating after less than 9 hours.
The result was still edible: It makes a very mild whey, and standard curds, much nicer than fridge fermented raw milk. But if you want to make a specific culture of yogurt you might want to cook this with your milk before seeding.

Very, very pleased with this product! I use inulin as one of the components of my no sugar sweetener mix. I’ve been using the Now brand, but this product is not only cheaper but a better quality. Very fine, white, with none of the slight aftertaste I get from the other when using large amounts.
Update July 2018: Still my go-to inulin. Always a consistent quality, and I love that I can get it in a 1 kilo size (instead of 3 8oz bottles as I was doing previously). Not only is this a consistently superior product, but I save a lot of $ as well. I’ve also discovered in that last few months that yeast loves inulin as much as sugar – so I’m now able to make keto/low carb yeasted bread products with this inulin, and it works perfectly!
