I highly recommend this product for overall wellness and to promote regularity in the bathroom. It has a very sour tart taste, which I don’t mind. Easy to mix and drink, and last quite a while. The price point is pretty good as well. I would recommend drinking this with a straw, though, as it is very acidic and can irritate sensitive teeth! This company seems to make quality products so I can definitely recommend them.

Friends use buffered powdered vit. C so I tried it. Odd taste, but supposedly easier on the stomach so will keep using. Hedged my bet by also taking ordinary tablet with rose hips added, 500 mg twice a day. The powdered I take once a day, 1/4 the dose of 4 gm which seems very high.
Who knows, unless you take products such as in a system with strong oversight. One I have experienced and read about since is the German gov’t which takes samples at factory & store, measures so that the active ingredient must be there and in a useful & safe range. Instead of what lab tests routinely find in our supply sold to Americans: often fillers, pharm. drugs, caffeine (so the customer feels a boost and buys again) The German national health care offers you both conventional drugs and traditional/herbal. You and your doctor can use either – or both. While visiting friends in Germany, late 70s I had something minor and went to a doctor in the nearby village. Impressed, and wondered why we don’t get this level of well-vetted, broad ranging products. Oh yes – profit based, large $$ from the pharmaceutical industry to lawmakers. Money=power.
This particular brand has products vetted by an outside group so I think it is better & safer than some.

I’m using LifeExtention Buffered Vitamin C Powder for more than one year.
The reason of using this product is because:
The Vitamin C is Ascorbic Acid (acidic).
Our body absorbs only Ascorbates as Na, K, Ca, Mg Ascorbates so Vitamin C uses our body minerals to react with Ascorbic Acid. The buffered Vitamin C has all necessary minerals K, Ca, Mg included.
Buying a Powder product is cheaper and easy to control the dosage.
I never take one serving size 4000mb Vit C at once, but I take it by increments of 1000mg 4 times a day. Our body can absorb 1000 mg Vit C per hour. I never take more than 2000 mg man made (Vit C) because I take a lot natural L-ascorbic Acid using fresh Fruits and vegetables.
Regarding the Label:
All my bottles in a period of one year never changed the label:

I am well aware that this is a man made Synthetic Vitamin C.
Synthetic Vitamin C unless labeled L-Ascorbic Acid, is a mixture 50% -50% of two diastereomers L- Ascorbic Acid and D-Ascorbic Acid.
So the strength is 50 % of the natural product. For that reason I take 1000mg Vitamin C (500mg L-Ascorbic acid) per serving and the rest I gets naturally by Fruits and Vegetables rich with Vitamin C. Some times I take 4 doses of 1000mg Vitamin C (500mg L-Ascorbic acid) one hour before a mill or two hours after a mill but never later than 6 PM.
If anybody doesn’t trust the label then he/she may look for another product as naturally Vitamin C extracted by fruits.

After searching diligently the Industrial Production of Vitamin C , the types of Vitamin C, and Labeling of Vitamin C products, I decreased from 5 stars to 1 star.
Do not buy this, or any vitamin C that says only Ascorbic acid.
Vitamin C can appear on the ingredient label as several different names, but the one you want is L-ascorbic acid, which is the only bio effective. If L-Ascorbic Acid doesn’t appear on the Label, then do not buy the product.
Vitamin C (L-ascorbic acid or L-ascorbate) is a metabolite with strong antioxidant activity and a cofactor for enzymes catalyzing numerous biochemical reactions, including those neutralizing the effects of reactive oxygen species. It is also a necessary nutrient for a limited number of animals, including humans, that are incapable of its synthesis, and that must secure vitamin C by means of dietary uptake.
Even today industrial methods for the production of ascorbic acid can be based on the Reichstein process, which ends in a mixture of 50% L- Ascorbic acid and 50 % D- Ascorbic acid, or erythroascorbic acid.
There is a new technology for production of L- Ascorbic acid in two steps.
It is produced from D-glucose by a combination of chemical and biotechnological steps. The fermentative conversion of D-sorbitol to 2-keto L-gulonic acid (2-KGA), is the current industry standard for L-Asc production.
There is another buffered vitamin C labeled as L-Ascorbic Acid, on sale in Amazon. Most likely made in China with the new Direct Microbial Routes to Vitamin C (L – Ascorbic) Production, which is used widely in China.
If you bought the bottle, as I did, do not recycle it. The potency is 50% so if you take 1000 mg Ascorbic cid, be aware that you are getting 500 mg L-Ascorbic Acid, and 500 mg D – Ascorbic Acid, or Erythroascorbic acid, which is not Vitamin C because has ZERO Bioavailability

I have used Life Extension Buffered Vitamin C Powder for many years and am very happy to use it. The reasons I use it in the powdered form is that it assimilates better than pill form.

In order to maintain my health, sometimes I will go on cleanses and fasts. As healthy as I am, I began to seizures at the end of one of my longer fasts. However, after being tested for everything, doctors could find nothing wrong with me. I began using this product when I do any restrictive cleanse. I have had no more problems. It tastes bad, but I’d rather deal with a bad taste for a few seconds than a seizure.

It tastes and smells terrible ! Was buying this product for years but this time there is a problem and I ended up to be obliged to dispose the two containers also being not confident that they were ok for consumption..I also wrote to LIFE EXTENSION about the problem but in return I got a standard reply where they were listing all the tests done during production BUT they never addressed the questions on why the product had such a bad smell and taste. CONCLUSION i’ll never again trust and buy their products.
