Okay, I never write reviews in general, but this sunscreen was a huge no-go for me. To begin, the 3oz container was priced SO high for such a small amount. The bottle wasn’t even filled all the way. When I first started applying some, my friend noticed that it wouldn’t rub into my skin at all. Left a horrible white cast even after being in the ocean. No matter how hard I rubbed it, it just stuck to my skin and never really got absorbed. After noticing this, I thought, “Oh, maybe that means it’ll do an extra good job of protecting my skin from the sun.” Spoiler; It didn’t. I re-applied every 3-4 hours and still had a splotchy, painful sunburn all over my shoulders, arms, and both sides of my legs. I don’t recall having a sunburn to this extremity before whilst using sunscreen. I would leave photos, but that’s kind of weird. I wanted to leave this review to let people know you are choosing between the reefs or yourself. Sure, it has a great chemical makeup to not harm the ocean, but it seems like it never considered the person using it. Save your money.

Great sunscreen protection, especially in the water. Very white on the skin.

This product left a white cast that never wore off until I washed it off. If you buy it, this may happen to you. However, when the company realized I had a problem with their product they had truly excellent customer support, which is unusual at a time when most sellers rely on computers to handle all their problems with customers. This company gets 5 stars for customer service.

Approved by EWG environmental working group. if you’re not familiar with this group please check them out! This product is Nurse Approved! EWG are Powerhouse in alerting the government and consumers of dangerous chemicals. The European Union has banned many chemicals that are still used in the United States that are dangerous for human consumption. They also have an app where you could look up any product and it tells you on a scale the chemical exposures you may experience. Who wants to expose themselves and their family more dangerous chemicals? Remember the zinc sunscreen in the 80s and the life guards with the white noses? This sunscreen goes on thick and because of the zinc content does not rub in very easily and stays very white on the skin. I just use a few drops of water to rub it into the skin a little better so I’m not Ghostly white. I’ve used it four times this summer so far with hours of sun exposure paddleboarding and have not experienced any sun burns. Tanning nicely. It’s expensive for the size and the amount of suntan lotion that you get. Knowing that I’m not exposing myself to additional harmful chemicals is worth it for me!

I bought this for a Caribbean vacation and wanted a brand that was reef safe. It offered good sun protection, but like most reef safe sun screens, it took a while to rub in and left my skin with a white tint.

I take ingredients very seriously. Especially for things I put on or in my body everyday. I’ve started getting this sunscreen auto shipped every two months, as a way to hold myself accountable with daily use regardless of my activity, and to avoid needing to buy something on impulse.
I’ve done plenty of research and ended up here with Stream2Sea. (Past products ingredients changed and have pollutants and endocrine disruptors, no thanks)
I use the Yuka app to compare and dig deeper into ingredients of cosmetics and food as a jumping off point, it’s been invaluable.
This sunscreen goes a LONG way. It is said you need about a shot glass worth for your entire body, unlike run-of-the-mill sunscreens that you need to lather on to get a good layer of coverage. That’s why I don’t mind paying more for less product that is quality & safe. For me and for the ocean.
I have fair skin and can burn easily but I’m more concerned these days with sun exposure in general because skin cancer is so common and living in Florida feels much different than living in Michigan, ha!
So, to sum up, start with less and blend, blend. The white cast you might end up with will fade and with regular use you can mostly avoid.
For my face I use Fuka Eri. It’s a Zinc oxide and titanium dioxide non nano vegan formula that’s reefsafe and cruelty free.
I keep it just outside on the back porch so it stays soft for easy application and the tinted version I cut with a tiny bit of coconut oil so it goes on like moisturizer and makes the product go farther avoiding unnecessary waste. 🙂
Hope this review helps. ☀️🧴

A biologist actually recommended this sunscreen and I’m glad I came across him and found out about it! Most conventional sunscreens contain an absurd amount of chemicals and harmful additives that harm not only you, but the environment and wildlife as well. These conventional sunscreens may protect you from the sun, but in the process still harm you.
With this sunscreen, however, not only am I happy that I could spend a little extra and help the planet, I’m also pleased to say this stuff works! I’m very pale with freckles so I’m always lathering up with sunscreen. Knowing that this one isn’t harmful and can still protect me is fantastic. I wore it every day for a week-long trip to the Jersey shore and I didn’t burn at all. One thing I will note is that a little goes a long way, if you use too much you’ll look much paler than you did before you started applying the sunscreen. But this is true for any mineral sunscreen.
All in all, do yourself and the planet a favor and buy some!
